Refund Churn Analysis Lands in Game Details
A new Stats and Refunds Analysis tab now lives on every game page, giving churn and refund risk the same first-class treatment as feature analysis. Open any newly processed game to see the full churn breakdown alongside the statistical review charts.
What you can do in the new tab:
- Refund snapshot at a glance: See total refund signals, estimated revenue at risk, and the top churn driver, all calibrated to the game's price or a modeled ticket if none is available.
- Segment the audience: Separate Steam purchasers from key activations, track Steam Deck sentiment against the global baseline, and follow how opinions shift from first-hour buyers to endgame veterans.
- Issue map + hot reviews: Explore a treemap of the most common refund causes and open the highest-upvoted negative reviews without losing your place.
How the churn analysis works under the hood:
- We flag refund-risk reviews by looking for recent downvotes with under two hours of playtime, then run a hybrid discovery pass that clusters each complaint into a normalized category (Technical, Design, Business, Social, Anomaly/Other) with a specific issue tag and risk score.
- Sales are estimated with a Gamalytics-style review-to-sale formula that factors Steam’s public review summary, pricing, velocity, and free/key mixes; those ratios are combined with the count of refund-risk reviews to model copies and revenue lost.
- Safety-aware LLM scoring keeps reused issue tags consistent and captures tone, hardware hints, and regional cues so you can spot brittle configurations or localized problems quickly.
This tab will appear on games processed from this release forward; older entries will pick up churn data once they are re-processed.
