Info about Steel Crew:

Official game description:
Welcome to Steel Crew!
Steel Crew is a game that is all about Tank vs Tank combat where you can join the crew of a tank together with up to two of your friends. Team up and join in on the 4 on 4 Tank battle!
Built for VR
------------
Steel Crew is built from the ground up with VR as its focus. It does still support other inputs than motion controllers. Gamepad and mouse and keyboard are supported in both VR and on traditional screens.
Detailed interiors
------------------
All tanks come with fully detailed interiors in an attempt to reproduce them as accurately as possible.
Driver
------
The driver obviously drives the tank. All tanks have a manual gearbox so there will be a lot of gear shifting. The driver has a very limited view and often depends on the commander to tell them what to do. When driving with the hatch open the driver will have a much better view and can help spot other tanks but will be vulnerable to incoming machine gun fire. The driver is also the one who can see the current "health" of the tank.
Gunner
------
The gunner has two guns at their disposal. The main gun and a coaxial machine gun. The gunner's view is very limited and without help from the commander and driver they will have a hard time finding a target. However the gunner has a periscope and a scope with magnification. To aim the gun (using motion controllers) there are three controls. One crank to aim up/down, another one for side to side and there is also a lever to use the powered traverse for faster but less precise aiming.
Commander
---------
The commander has no direct input on the tank itself but has a great view of the surroundings. The commander has a few tools to help them. They are the only player in the tank with a map that shows the position as well as the position of other friendly tanks. It also shows the capture points on the map and their current status. To help the commander spot enemy tanks they are equipped with a monocular that can be used when riding with the hatch open. Just like the driver, the commander is vulnerable to machine gun fire with their head outside the tank. The commander can also call in airstrikes and talk to other commanders in the team to synchronize their attacks.

Below are summaries of things people say about the game per category.
Each point is assigned a weight that represents how often it is mentioned across all reviews.
What players like:
- Highly praised game concept (weight 0.66): Players consistently highlight the game's innovative and fulfilling concept, praising its execution and potential. The idea of a VR tank simulator is frequently described as amazing and well-implemented.
- Realistic tank controls and physics (weight 0.53): The game is lauded for its accurate and satisfying tank controls, including manual gear shifting, RPM management, and realistic tank models. Players appreciate the attention to detail in simulating tank mechanics.
- Immersive VR experience (weight 0.32): VR integration is seamless and enhances immersion, making players feel as if they are inside a real tank. The use of hand controllers for levers and the cramped space simulation are particularly praised.
- AI and bot functionality (weight 0.24): AI-controlled tanks and bots provide a fun alternative when players are scarce, ensuring the game remains playable even in solo or low-player scenarios. Players appreciate the quality of the bots.
- Accessible non-VR gameplay (weight 0.18): The game is praised for being playable and enjoyable even without VR, offering good interaction with the player camera and tactile gameplay for keyboard and mouse users.
- Effective voice chat (weight 0.12): Voice chat is well-executed and enhances the multiplayer experience, allowing for better communication and coordination among players and crewmates.

Common complaints:
- Dead multiplayer population (weight 0.69): The game suffers from an extremely low or non-existent player base, making online multiplayer unplayable. Players report empty servers, difficulty finding matches, and a lack of active communities, particularly for solo players.
- Severely limited content (weight 0.64): The game offers minimal content, including only two tanks (Sherman and T-34 variants), one map, and a single game mode (Capture the Flag). This lack of variety leads to repetitive and boring gameplay.
- Unfriendly to solo players (weight 0.35): The game requires at least 2-3 players to fully crew a tank, making it difficult for solo players to enjoy. Roles are repetitive (e.g., driver only drives, gunner only shoots), and there is no AI or bots to fill empty crew positions.
- Inactive development (weight 0.3): The game appears abandoned, with no updates for over a year and slow or inactive development. Players express concerns about the developer's lack of interest in improving or expanding the game.
- Poor balancing and mechanics (weight 0.3): Gameplay suffers from questionable balancing (e.g., British tanks being easier to destroy than Soviet tanks), inconsistent AI behavior, and frustrating mechanics like tank sliding on slopes. Aiming and visibility issues also lead to accidental team kills.
- Unfinished and unpolished (weight 0.3): The game feels incomplete, with missing textures, poor graphics (especially when zooming in), and repetitive sounds. It is described as more of a tech demo or proof of concept than a finished product.
- No tutorial or onboarding (weight 0.24): The absence of a tutorial or clear instructions makes the game difficult for new players to learn. This leads to confusion, particularly around team identification and role mechanics.
- Simplistic damage system (weight 0.16): The damage model is overly simplistic, relying on a basic HP system instead of realistic component damage or armor mechanics. This breaks immersion and limits tactical depth.
- Technical and VR issues (weight 0.15): Players report occasional crashes, frame rate issues, and frustrating VR controls, particularly with turret handling. These technical problems detract from the overall experience.
- Limited role variety (weight 0.15): The game lacks key tank crew roles, such as a loader or machine gunner, and the existing roles (driver, gunner, commander) are repetitive. Bots are simplistic and often get stuck or behave unrealistically.
- Automatic reloading breaks immersion (weight 0.09): The main gun automatically reloads without requiring player input for a loader role, which feels unrealistic and detracts from the tank simulation experience.

Gameplay feedback:
- VR tank crew immersion (weight 0.95): VR support allows players to experience the tank's interior realistically, including physical interactions like turning knobs and peering through sights. This enhances immersion but may limit accessibility for non-VR players.
- Multi-crew tank simulation (weight 0.85): The game emphasizes realistic multiplayer tank operations with distinct roles (driver, gunner, commander). Players must coordinate closely, often requiring 2-3 people to operate a single tank effectively.
- Single-player limitations (weight 0.45): Single-player mode requires handling all tank roles alone, which is cumbersome. Players request AI-driven bots to fill crew positions or drive tanks to mitigate this.
- Role-specific visibility (weight 0.43): The commander has a broader view (e.g., cupola) but risks exposure to enemy fire, while the gunner and driver rely on the commander for targeting and navigation.
- Limited tank variety (weight 0.37): Only two tanks (T-34-85 and Sherman VC/Firefly) are available, with repeated requests for more tanks, maps, and ammo types to improve replayability.
- Online multiplayer focus (weight 0.36): The game is designed for online multiplayer, with teamwork and voice chat (Discord) being critical for coordination. However, low player populations may hinder matchmaking.
- Modular damage system (weight 0.21): The game uses an HP-based damage system, but players suggest a modular approach (e.g., location-based hits) for greater realism. Component damage is already partially implemented.
- Capture-the-flag gameplay (weight 0.14): The primary game mode is capture-the-flag, but players note the lack of variety in maps and objectives, suggesting potential for PvE or strategic modes.
- Requested infantry/field guns (weight 0.1): Players suggest adding infantry units or manned anti-tank guns to diversify gameplay, though these features are not yet implemented.
- Claustrophobic tank interior (weight 0.08): The game simulates the confined space of a tank, with limited movement options (e.g., standing or crawling). This adds realism but may discomfort some players.

Performance notes:
- VR tracking instability issues (weight 0.13): Players report frequent shaking when using the spyglass in VR, along with overly sensitive controls that require constant recentering. Turret controls in VR also lack optimization, leading to frustration.
- Persistent bugs and crashes (weight 0.13): Long-standing bugs, including a physics issue with the T-34 tank causing unintended shaking, remain unresolved. Some players also experience occasional crashes, impacting gameplay stability.
- Performance and optimization problems (weight 0.13): General optimization concerns are noted, including occasional frame rate drops and inconsistent performance. Some players mention the game runs fine, but these reports are less frequent.
