Info about GTFO:

Official game description:
FINAL EDITION
=============
**Rundown 8.0 – Duality** brings the story of the prisoners in the Complex to its riveting culmination. With all rundowns available in GTFO: Final Edition you and your team have more than 80 nail-biting challenges to suffer through. More than most people ever will be able to endure.
About the Game
==============
Your team of prisoners is dropped into the Rundown when a new Work Order is issued by The Warden, the mysterious entity holding you captive. The Rundown is a series of expeditions, each one taking you deeper into a decayed research facility called The Complex. You descend level by level, scavenging tools and resources that help you survive in a perilous network of tunnels where gruesome creatures lurk in every shadow. Complete all the expeditions to fulfill the Work Order and clear the Rundown.
GTFO is designed for prisoner teams of four, putting cooperation at the core of the experience. Bots can fill your lineup if you’re short one or two players. They’ll follow you through expeditions, sneak when you sneak, collect resources, and fight alongside you. They’re a good fallback, but the level of communication and tactical combat in GTFO means it’s best to play with people.
A strategy is necessary to clear the Rundown. Before you drop into The Complex, your team needs to decide what gear, boosters, and weapons to bring. You must also balance the team, identifying the function of each prisoner so that you know what to do when things go wrong. And they will. They always do.
Stealth and coordination are necessary to survive as you maneuver through The Complex. Many of the creatures of GTFO are suspended in a state of hibernation, so light, noise, and vibrations can easily wake up these Sleepers. And if one of them knows you’re there, they all know. That’s when things get messy.
You’ll need heavy weaponry and a clear mind when the shit hits the fan. Check your line of fire, force them through bottlenecks, set up your kill zones and reload every chance you get. These creatures stop at nothing, and neither should you. Once the mayhem starts, you have no choice but to put every last one of them down.
Clearing expeditions and Rundowns will reward you with new cosmetic gear. Wear it with pride, as it proves to your peers you’ve been to hell and back. The Sleepers, on the other hand, will not care for a second.

Common complaints:
- Extreme difficulty deters solo players (weight 0.96): The game is widely criticized for its punishing difficulty, steep learning curve, and lack of scaling for solo or casual players. Many report missions taking hours or multiple attempts, making solo play frustrating or nearly impossible.
- Poor AI bots hinder solo experience (weight 0.39): Bot teammates are described as unintelligent, unreliable, and often counterproductive (e.g., shooting players, wasting resources, or failing basic tasks). This exacerbates the difficulty for solo players.
- Dead multiplayer and poor matchmaking (weight 0.31): The online player base is critically low, leading to long wait times or reliance on external tools (Discord) to find teams. Matchmaking is plagued by disconnections and instability.
- Steep learning curve with poor tutorials (weight 0.24): New players face a harsh onboarding experience due to inadequate tutorials, unclear objectives, and opaque mechanics (e.g., stealth, enemy behavior). Mastery requires hundreds of hours.
- Unpatched bugs disrupt gameplay (weight 0.21): Numerous game-breaking bugs (e.g., enemy desync, checkpoint failures, AI glitches) remain unaddressed, wasting player time and disrupting progression. Some bugs persist since early access.
- Repetitive and tedious mission design (weight 0.21): Missions involve repetitive tasks (e.g., terminal hacking, item searches) and long sequences without checkpoints. Progression can feel like a grind, especially with frequent failures.
- Lack of checkpoints frustrates progress (weight 0.18): Missions lack sufficient checkpoints, forcing players to restart long sessions (30–60 minutes) after failures. This amplifies frustration, especially in high-difficulty scenarios.
- Unfair enemy AI and combat design (weight 0.13): Enemies deal excessive damage, exhibit erratic behavior (e.g., melee attacks from range), and blend into dark environments. Combat feels primitive, with weapons lacking differentiation.
- Toxic community and elitism (weight 0.08): The player base (especially on Discord) is described as unwelcoming to newcomers, with toxicity in LFG posts and language barriers. High-level players often abandon low-level groups.
- Weak narrative and progression systems (weight 0.07): The story is underdeveloped, with no character progression or meaningful upgrades. Later levels feel rushed, and the lack of purpose can make gameplay feel hollow.

Gameplay feedback:
- Teamwork and role specialization (weight 0.48): Success depends on teamwork, with players often assuming specific roles (e.g., sniper, terminal operator). Communication and coordination are critical, especially in high-stakes missions.
- Resource scarcity and management (weight 0.33): Ammo, health packs, and tools are limited, forcing players to conserve resources and make strategic decisions. This adds tension and reinforces teamwork.
- Stealth and tactical gameplay (weight 0.33): Stealth mechanics are central, requiring players to avoid detection, manage noise, and use environmental tools. Combat is often secondary to careful planning and execution.
- Horror atmosphere without jumpscares (weight 0.23): The game creates tension through dark, claustrophobic environments, sound design, and enemy behaviors rather than cheap jumpscares. Players note the immersive horror elements.
- Mission variety and objectives (weight 0.2): Missions feature diverse objectives (e.g., hacking terminals, retrieving items, defending zones) and difficulty tiers (A-E), offering replayability and escalating challenges.
- Procedural enemy and loot placement (weight 0.16): Enemies and resources spawn dynamically, adding replayability. Unique enemy types with distinct behaviors (e.g., sleepers, giants) require adaptive strategies.
- Long, high-stakes missions (weight 0.14): Missions are lengthy (often 2+ hours) and require restarting from scratch if failed. This amplifies the tension and demands careful resource management and teamwork.
- Terminal-based mission progression (weight 0.12): Terminals are used for hacking, mission updates, and objective completion. Players must interact with them frequently, adding a technical layer to gameplay.
- Tactical loadout and planning (weight 0.11): Players must carefully plan loadouts and strategies before missions, as resources are limited and enemies are deadly. This adds a layer of depth to preparation.
- Sound-sensitive enemy mechanics (weight 0.1): Noise (e.g., footsteps, gunfire) triggers enemy reactions, making stealth and quiet movement essential. This mechanic heightens tension and requires careful team coordination.
- Skill-based progression, no upgrades (weight 0.1): Player growth comes from improving skills and tactics, not character upgrades or unlocks. All gear is available from the start, emphasizing mastery over progression systems.

Performance notes:
- Severe gameplay bugs and crashes (weight 0.19): Frequent reports of enemies not animating, getting stuck in terrain, physics issues, and game crashes. These bugs significantly disrupt gameplay stability and immersion, often requiring community patches to mitigate.
- Visual and rendering glitches (weight 0.13): Graphical bugs such as rooms not loading, pink pixels, black blobs, and sudden screen darkening. Volumetric lighting is noted as an exception, performing well without issues.
- Poor optimization and performance (weight 0.11): Widespread complaints about long load times, FPS drops, and performance degradation over time. High-end hardware struggles to maintain consistent performance, while mid-range systems experience steady frames.
- Hardware compatibility and optimization (weight 0.1): The game is optimized for mid-range and lower-end hardware, including Steam Deck support. However, high-end PCs may struggle with performance, and GPU settings can introduce input lag.
- Network and multiplayer issues (weight 0.1): Recurring problems with desyncs, invisible players, server connectivity, and matchmaking. These issues lead to disconnections and crashes during multiplayer sessions, affecting overall experience.
- AI and enemy behavior inconsistencies (weight 0.05): Enemies exhibit teleportation, glitching, and invisible behavior due to underlying code issues. These inconsistencies affect gameplay fairness and immersion.

Recommendations:
- Extreme difficulty and challenge (weight 0.86): The game is praised for its high difficulty, often compared to Dark Souls, and is recommended for players who enjoy punishing but fair challenges. It appeals to those who seek masochistic or hardcore experiences.

Solo or casual play is often discouraged due to high difficulty and teamwork requirements.
