Info about OFFBEAT:

Official game description:
The year is 198X, and you're a jobbing composer. You start out with nothing but a toy keyboard shaped like a tiger, and a brand new sequence-o-matic 4-track that your uncle bought from a shady geezer in the pub.
Word quickly spreads about the new producer on the block, and soon the commissions are rolling in. Things start humble, recording tracks for weddings, workout videos and corporate presentations, but before long you're getting asked to score fantasy movies, museum openings, and all kinds of crazy stuff.
Of course, you'll have to upgrade your kit along the way. Turns out, the local second-hand magazine is a treasure trove of objects that make interesting sounds, from singing garden gnomes and shredders-that-shred-sound-as-well-as-paper, to high-end synthesisers and musical effects. By the end, you'll have figured out a sound that's all your own.
But **OFFBEAT** isn't just a game. All the musical instruments are fully simulated, and the music you're recording is real. The game is secretly a complete audio production tool. Every piece of music you create in the game gets exported and saved locally on your computer as a WAV file, which you can use for whatever you want.
Music production can be costly and complex to get into, especially for beginners. We created **OFFBEAT** to lower barrier to entry and to offer a playful, low-pressure way to learn the basics of audio producion. The goal is just to be expressive and experimental, but by the end you'll have learned a little about synthesizers, sound design, composition and recording. Our hope is that when the game's finished, you'll have the confidence and expertise to carry on composing and recording music.
* **Game meets** a real **audio production tool**.
* **Accept jobs, compose music, earn money.**
* **Browse the Riches & Rags Catalogue** to buy new synthesizers, then get **Electric Lacey** **to upgrade** and mod 'em.
*   **Make music** in a low-pressure and beginner-friendly setting.
* **Meet** a whole host of weird characters.
* **Export your tracks** as a WAV files onto your computer.
* **Share your tracks** with the world, or just friends – _up to you_.
* **Play through chapters** themed after different styles of electronic music.

Feature scans:
- Steam Deck: score 20; verdict: Seamless with Minor Friction; summary: The game is largely seamless on Steam Deck, with users reporting that it works great and that Linux users should not have runtime problems. The main friction is minor text entry via manual keyboard invocation and Linux-specific limitations around extracting or exporting audio, along with one uncertain report of missing instruments during rendering. These issues affect optional input and export workflows rather than launch stability or core playability.

- Hardware Profile:
  - Summary: The Windows under-8GB VRAM cohort reports the game running smoothly on older laptop hardware with no lag, indicating decent optimization for this cohort.
  - Sample size: 44 (8% coverage)
  - Audience skew: Review sample is mostly Windows-based.
  - Windows <8GB VRAM (positive, 27 reports): Reports indicate the game runs without lag on an older laptop and is considered decently optimized for this hardware class.
  - Caveats: 44 of 565 reviews expose hardware metadata.; Review sample is mostly Windows-based.
Feature extractions:
- Community Price:
  - Community fair range: $10.00 - $15.00
  - Reasoning: The reviews repeatedly describe the game as worth the money at and around $11.99, with several saying it is worth full price or more than the price. This supports a fair base-game range centered near $12, with room up to about $15 given the strong value sentiment.
- Playtime Metrics:
  - Game completion: 13.0h
  - Story completion: 5.0h
  - Session length: 3.0h
  - Endgame: N/A
  - Reasoning: The review stating the main content was finished at 13 hours supports a main-content completion estimate, while another review estimates about 10 hours to complete all missions; I used the explicit 13-hour main-content figure for gameCompletion. A separate review estimates roughly 5 hours of story before free creation, supporting storyCompletion around 5 hours. The 'three hours later' comment supports a typical session length of about 3 hours. No review gives a specific endgame duration, only open-ended free creation, so endgame is null.
