Info about Vampy's Big Day:

Official game description:
**THE SUN IS THE ENEMY**
------------------------
Manipulate shadows to explore a world built entirely against you. Use Solea's power to move the sun and stay in the darkness.
**YOUR CHOICES MATTER**
-----------------------
Spare villagers, help them, or devour them. The choice is yours, but the world notices in small ways: how NPCs react, what Solea says, and who Vampy is becoming.
**SHORT, WEIRD, AND HAND-DRAWN**
--------------------------------
Lovingly created in a goofy MS Paint aesthetic, Vampy's Big Day is a small, colorful adventure about an unlikely friendship and a prophecy they may not fully understand.
Vampy is cast out of vampire society for being too small. In the Vampire Court, weakness is unacceptable.
Then Solea finds him. A sun fairy with no business befriending a vampire, Solea believes Vampy might be the Ashborn: a figure of prophecy destined to either end sunlight forever or be the means of its salvation. She chooses to believe that Vampy can become good.
Together, they sneak through sunlit villages full of goofy villagers, dark mysterious forests and caves, and ultimately return to the Vampire Court where Vampy must confront his destiny. Along the way, Vampy must decide whether to give in to his vampiric instincts or to lend a helping hand to the characters they find along the way.

- Playtime Metrics:
  - Game completion: 2.5h
  - Story completion: N/A
  - Session length: N/A

  - Reasoning: Two reviews give direct completion or length figures for Vampy's Big Day: one finished a first playthrough in about 2 hours, and another describes the game as around 3 hours long. These bracket a practical game-completion estimate of roughly 2.5 hours. The almost-an-hour and 45-minute comments are cumulative early playtime, not measured session lengths, and no review provides separate story-only or endgame/post-completion hours, so those metrics are null.

- Short but satisfying length (weight 0.39): The game is short but fun, with a length where nothing overstays its welcome. It is really good despite being short.
- Passion and love in development (weight 0.39): Reviewers note clear love was put into development and that it was made by an indie creator with passion and love. Tiny details are well polished.
- Interesting characters and lore (weight 0.37): Characters are interesting, with small bits of lore hidden for those who look. The pig is the best character, and characters, locations, and gnomes are nice.
- Smooth performance and enjoyable play (weight 0.35): The game otherwise played smoothly, and players had fun despite using a keyboard. One reviewer adores everything about the game.
- Challenging but rewarding level design (weight 0.3): Level design is described as amazing, challenging yet rewarding, and not frustrating. The gameplay is challenging without being frustrating.
- Satisfying and punchy combat (weight 0.28): Combat feels punchy and kills feel satisfying. Even the killings are described as cute.
- Fun stealth mechanic (weight 0.28): The main mechanic is really fun for a stealth game, with interesting uses in puzzles. The sun movement mechanic is interesting and unique.
- Charming dialogue and writing (weight 0.27): The writing is well done and dialogue has a bouncy animation. The art, sounds, music, and dialogue contribute to a goofy whimsical vibe.
- Authentic fear and twisted novelty (weight 0.14): Fear and twisted novelty feel authentic, adding a unique layer to the experience.

Common complaints:
- Frustrating stealth mechanics (weight 0.51): Stealth is criticized because guards randomly turn around and detect the player unfairly, with wide vision cones and patrol paths that feel punishing. Sneak attacks also require being very close and take too long to build up.
- Poor controller support (weight 0.5): The game does not work with the official controller layout despite claiming Steam Deck compatibility, and it lacks PS5 controller support. Controls feel clunky with trackpad-as-mouse, indicating it was not designed for controllers.
- Cannot replay completed levels (weight 0.49): Players cannot return to previous levels, so missed gnomes, potatoes, or secret people cannot be collected without restarting. This blocks 100% completion and collectible hunting.
- Unfair enemy encounters (weight 0.48): Enemies are described as annoying to deal with, with too many guards clustered in single areas and shuriken guards having overly wide vision. Players also get shot instantly upon respawning.
- Pacifist runs feel unrewarding (weight 0.28): Players report that the pacifist approach is not fun, and guards in the fourth level run into their own traps and die, ruining pacifist attempts. This makes the non-lethal playstyle difficult to enjoy.
- Confusing level layouts (weight 0.27): Players find the level design troubling and unintuitive, citing specific areas like the guards' camp as unclear to navigate. This makes progression frustrating rather than engaging.
- Unclear grab and hiding states (weight 0.27): There is no clear indication of whether an object is properly grabbed or whether the player is properly hidden. This ambiguity makes stealth interactions feel unreliable.
- Health system lacks recovery (weight 0.27): Expanding the health bar is described as useless because there are limited meaningful ways to regain health. Sunlight chip damage during backtracking compounds this problem.
- Stuck on objects and progress bugs (weight 0.26): Players got hung up on a few objects, and one player became stuck after giving back a random NPC's shield. These collision and scripting issues break progression.
- Save exploit keeps enemies alerted (weight 0.16): Entering and exiting rooms saves the game, but enemies remain alerted afterward, creating an unfair and persistent threat. This undermines the intended stealth pacing.
- Tedious backtracking with hazards (weight 0.15): Backtracking is tedious, and sunlight causes chip damage on the return trip, making traversal feel like a chore. This discourages exploration and revisiting areas.
- No cutscene or dialogue skip (weight 0.15): Players cannot skip cutscenes or dialogue, which slows down replayability and frustrates those who want to get back to gameplay.

Gameplay feedback:
- Sun-based stealth mechanics praised (weight 0.95): Reviewers highlight the stealth gameplay built around manipulating sunlight with Solea, including entering sunlight briefly and controlling shadows. The main mechanic is also used for puzzle solving.
- Replayability through collectibles and secrets (weight 0.95): Collectible potatoes, gnomes, achievements, and hidden secrets encourage multiple runs to explore missed content. Reviewers appreciate the replayable runs that support different play styles.
- Multiple routes with meaningful choices (weight 0.88): The game offers several routes with different gameplay feel, and reviewers note that choices truly matter. Multiple endings and good/evil paths support these branching decisions.
- Pacifist and evil route options (weight 0.85): The game supports pacifist runs and an evil route, with the pure pacifist path noted as easy. A genocide route increases difficulty, and players can choose to be good or bad.
- Combat and interaction with NPCs (weight 0.66): Players can chomp humans and peasants, be mean to NPCs via vitality, and kill enemies. The game also includes interactions like returning a shield or saving a toad.
- Level design with guards and traps (weight 0.46): Levels include NPCs, guards with vision cones, a guards camp, and a fourth level with guard traps. These elements create stealth challenges.
- Puzzle solving as core mechanic (weight 0.39): Puzzle solving is noted as a key activity, with the main mechanic used for puzzles. This adds variety to the stealth gameplay.
- Health system with pickups (weight 0.26): The health system features an expanding health bar, and pumpkin pickups provide health restoration. This supports survival during stealth encounters.
- Room-based saving system (weight 0.14): A room-based saving system is mentioned as a specific feature. It likely structures progression and checkpoints.

Performance notes:
- Lag when NPCs load (weight 0.16): Loading any NPC triggers noticeable lag, suggesting inefficient asset streaming or spawn handling. This affects moment-to-moment performance during encounters.
- Requires resolution reduction (weight 0.16): Players must lower their display resolution to achieve playable performance. This indicates poor optimization or high system demands.
- Steam Deck layout unsupported (weight 0.15): The official Steam Deck controller layout does not function with the game, preventing expected input compatibility. Players relying on this preset must manually reconfigure controls.
- Lag spike after unpausing (weight 0.15): Resuming from a pause after being away causes a significant lag spike. This disrupts gameplay when returning to the session.

Recommendations:
- Positive overall reception (weight 0.7): Multiple reviewers recommend the game and express intention to return or finish it. The feedback reflects broad satisfaction and willingness to replay.
- Fun and worthwhile purchase (weight 0.28): Players describe the game as fun and worth the money for a great time. This suggests strong value perception among satisfied customers.

Other player notes:
- Short game length (weight 0.84): Multiple reviews note that the game is short, with some specifying a single run or about 2-3 hours for a first playthrough. However, a few consider the length appropriate for the experience.
- Indie developer Jerbob (weight 0.24): The game is made by indie creator Jerbob, as noted in a couple of reviews.
- Unfair difficulty compared to Undertale (weight 0.13): One reviewer compares the difficulty design to Undertale, stating that Undertale's Sans fight feels fair while this game's challenge feels unfair.
- Refreshing compared to rushed games (weight 0.13): A reviewer contrasts the game with quickly pushed out games made to please an audience as fast as possible, presenting it as a breath of fresh air.
- Filled with small creatures (weight 0.13): The game features many small creature characters, as mentioned in a review.
- MSPaint art style (weight 0.13): The game uses an MSPaint art style, according to one review.
- Family friendly (weight 0.13): The game is described as family friendly in one review.
- Comparable to Undertale routes (weight 0.13): One reviewer notes that the game is comparable to Undertale's good and bad routes.

Emotions:
- Frustration (weight 0.15): Players are frustrated by confusing level layouts and unfair stealth encounters where guards spot them easily or die in traps during pacifist runs. Technical issues such as clunky controls, getting stuck on objects, lag spikes, and instant deaths upon respawning compound the annoyance.
- Enjoyment (weight 0.15): Players enjoy the good gameplay, fun puzzles, and well-balanced challenge that changes depending on the route. The fun stealth mechanics, cozy atmosphere, engaging story, and abundance of secrets to discover make the experience highly enjoyable.
- Disappointment (weight 0.08): Disappointment stems from the inability to replay previous levels, which prevents players from finding missed collectibles like gnomes and potatoes or achieving 100% completion. The lack of PS5 controller support and an unhelpful health system also contribute.
- Excitement (weight 0.07): Excitement comes from finally playing the game after waiting for its release, as well as the different routes, unique characters, great music, and an engaging storyline that immediately draws players in.

- Satisfaction (weight 0.03): Satisfaction comes from punchy combat, satisfying kills, and an overall good experience without major complaints.

- Fun (weight 0.03): Players have fun chomping peasants, interacting with characters, and enjoying the silly tone and well-designed puzzles.
