- Controls Easy to Learn (weight 0.53): Controls take about an hour to get a good grasp of and become manageable after a match or two. Players find them intuitive with a low skill floor but high skill ceiling.
- Solid Dialogue and Story (weight 0.45): The dialogue is witty and matches character personalities, with a vibe similar to the Compact Youmu channel. The story mode is wonderful and helps players understand game mechanics.
- High Replayability and Variety (weight 0.39): The game offers great replayability due to a variety of characters, endings, and mechanics. Modifications like weather add further variety, and sessions can be short or long.
- Active Developer and Updates (weight 0.38): A passionate solo developer actively updates the game, fixing bugs and adding content. Major update 1.100 fixed crashes and added arcade mode and online multiplayer.
- Simple Yet Charming Art and Music (weight 0.36): The art style is simple but acceptable, especially if familiar with the author's Touhou story videos. Music and art are charming and well-made with hand-drawn animations.
- Steam Deck and Gamepad Compatible (weight 0.28): The game plays nicely on Steam Deck and works well on gamepad without issues. It runs well on various hardware.
- Characters Balance and Standouts (weight 0.28): Character balance varies, with notable mentions like Daiyousei as the strongest fairy, and strong characters like Remilia, Yuugi, and Nitori. Marisa is very strong (invincible) and Great Fairy is powerful.
- Intense Danmaku Battles and Bosses (weight 0.28): Bosses are great and danmaku battles can be very intense like a mainline title. Each rally is a unique dance of bullets and volleys.
- Beginner-Friendly and Accessible (weight 0.28): The game is beginner-friendly with mechanics similar to an arcade and easy to learn. A slight learning curve but never overwhelming.
- Novelty for Touhou Fans (weight 0.28): Touhou fans will enjoy the novelty of characters playing volleyball. Beloved Compact Touhou characters are playable and the game is a fun take on volleyball.
- Fun Developing Strategies (weight 0.26): Players enjoy developing strategies and the feeling of conquering foes they couldn't before. Many tricks a Touhou girl can pull off add depth.
- Impressive Solo Developer Effort (weight 0.26): It's impressive that one author can make this game while doing Touhou animations. The newbie developer showed dedication and care for the community.
- Hectic and Chaotic Gameplay (weight 0.26): The gameplay is beautifully chaotic and hectic to manage everything going on, which adds to the fun. It is fast-paced and exhilarating.
- Witty Dialogue and Humor (weight 0.26): Hatate News Reports are really funny and the dialogue is witty, matching character personalities. The game charms the player.
- Well-Balanced CPU and Learning Curve (weight 0.22): The CPU opponents are quite good and fun to play against, with a learning curve that isn't too bad. Players can beat CPUs after tutorial and practice.
- Story Mode with Tournament Structure (weight 0.2): The story mode features a tournament structure with wagering and minigames to speed up progression. The lore involves Nitori losing her bag and everyone in a volleyball tournament.

Common complaints:
- Story mode is tedious (weight 0.53): The story mode requires excessive points to progress, forcing hours of grinding with minimal points per victory. Additionally, losing a match can cost a point, making progression feel punishing.
- Bugs and glitches present (weight 0.31): Players encounter bugs such as a glitch that freezes the player for the next match when using a desperation ability as the ball goes off screen. Another bug disables normal attacks after using Ran's desperation until the next round.
- Controls feel weird initially (weight 0.3): Multiple players report that the controls are strange and take time to get used to, including confusion about movement and the spacebar. This learning curve may frustrate new players.
- Writing is tame and generic (weight 0.3): The game's writing feels safe and lacks the humor, personality, and wackiness of the YouTube series. The story mode is readable but fairly generic, and some players find it hard to understand.
- Dense bullets hinder ball control (weight 0.3): Dense bullets make catching the ball difficult, requiring players to track both ball position and rapidly approaching projectiles simultaneously. This increases difficulty, especially with characters like Great Fairy.
- Character balance and speed issues (weight 0.29): Players request Youmu be able to move while firing her sword slash, and Marisa to move faster to match mainline games. Alice is perceived as weak but has strong desperation and Aya bullets, with speed as her weakness.
- Main menu UI confusing (weight 0.29): The main menu UI change was confusing at first, and menu options are illegible when not selected. White text on white background further hampers readability.
- Limited content at launch (weight 0.22): There are only a few stages and characters available for now, and some expected characters like Seiga, Yoshika, Mai, and Satono are missing. This limits variety and replayability.
- Bot behavior and AI issues (weight 0.22): Opponents are sometimes passive, and teammates are most annoying. Changing bot behavior settings does not work, forcing players to manually control teammates after the main character loses health.
- Exploitable ball throw technique (weight 0.22): A broken technique involves throwing the ball from the bottom left corner, causing the CPU to dodge and give a point. Some characters can perform it from bottom center where Lily White gives the ball.
- Shop and weather underutilized (weight 0.21): Shop and weather/mood mechanics are rarely used and feel inconsequential. Special events like field weather and challenges are not recurring enough.
- Keystone obstacles unplayable (weight 0.13): Keystone obstacles take about 4 hits to shatter, and with around 7 on screen the game becomes unplayable rather than hectic. This drastically affects gameplay balance.
- Tutorial lacks key lessons (weight 0.13): The tutorial does not teach how to spike the ball, leaving players unprepared for core mechanics. This gap in instruction contributes to initial control confusion.
- Nitori bomb bubbles bug (weight 0.13): Nitori's bomb bubbles prevent getting the ball to the other side and cannot be destroyed by shooting them, causing loss of all hits on the ball. This is a significant gameplay bug.
- Missing series charm (weight 0.12): Fans of the Compact Youmu series are disappointed by the lack of charm from the original series. This may alienate the existing fanbase.
- Accidental slam triggers (weight 0.12): Players sometimes trigger the purple downward slam by accident when trying to interact with the ball. This control issue can cause unintended actions.
- No Chinese language support (weight 0.12): The game does not offer Chinese language support, which limits accessibility for Chinese-speaking players. This is a notable omission for a Touhou fan game.
- Wall strength too high (weight 0.12): Base wall strength might be better at 350 for online play, as Yuugi can still break the barrier quickly even after a small nerf. This affects competitive balance.
- Large framework size (weight 0.11): The current framework is considered a bit large, potentially affecting performance or download size. This is a minor technical concern.

Gameplay feedback:
- Unique Character Abilities and Roster (weight 0.96): Each character has distinct move sets and abilities that match their personalities, such as Marisa flooding the field with stars, Yuugi having the strongest spikes, and Aya being the fastest. The roster includes many popular Touhou characters beyond the usual EoSD lineup.
- Touhou Volleyball Hybrid Gameplay (weight 0.8): The game uniquely combines Touhou Project characters with volleyball and bullet hell (danmaku) mechanics. Players hit a volleyball while simultaneously shooting bullets to interfere with opponents, managing both volleys and projectiles.
- Arcade and Story Modes (weight 0.72): The game features an arcade mode with mini-games and new mechanics, as well as a story mode with point-based progression, a shop, weather/mood mechanics, and character-specific campaigns. Story mode helps players understand the game's mechanics.
- Accessible Controls with Learning Curve (weight 0.57): Controls are easy to learn within an hour but have a slight learning curve, taking a match or two to get used to. The tutorial does not cover spiking the ball, and players can use movement, spacebar interactions, and a purple downward slam move.
- Strategic Depth and Skill Ceiling (weight 0.52): The game has a low skill floor but high skill ceiling, with character-specific spells enabling mind games like rock-paper-scissors. Players must manage bullets and volleys simultaneously, and CPU opponents react to specific techniques, encouraging strategy development.
- Singleplayer and Multiplayer Modes (weight 0.45): The game offers both singleplayer and multiplayer modes, with online mode planned. Players can beat CPUs and bots with behavior settings, and the game is suitable for short play sessions of 10-30 minutes.
- Projectiles and Desperation Attacks (weight 0.44): Players can shoot projectiles, bombs, or desperation attacks to eliminate opponents during matches. Special techniques like desperation moves are available, and Nitori's bomb creates bubbles as obstacles.
- Ball-Centric Losing Condition (weight 0.36): The losing condition is based on the ball dropping, not the character being defeated. Players hit the volleyball toward the opponent's side until they drop the ball, emphasizing the sports aspect.
- Tutorial and Gamepad Support (weight 0.33): The game includes a tutorial, though it does not cover spiking. Gamepad support is available, and the framework is somewhat large.
- Wall and Obstacle Mechanics (weight 0.29): Each side is protected by walls that players destroy with their volleyball, and base wall strength affects online play. Certain characters can break walls, and obstacles called keystones require multiple hits to shatter.
- Character-Specific Mechanics (weight 0.29): Characters have unique abilities like Youmu controlling her ghost half, and each has their own special attack. The game includes character-specific spells that allow mind games.
- Dialogue and Story Elements (weight 0.28): The game includes witty dialogue that matches personalities, along with Hatate News Reports as part of the story. Campaign mode features special events like field weather and challenges.
- Points and Tournament Progression (weight 0.28): Story mode involves point-based progression and a knockout tournament setting. Challenges allow earning more points, and the game features a volleyball tournament setting.
- Bosses and Stages (weight 0.27): Bosses are present, such as Remilia in story mode, and the game has stages and characters. The dialogue and Hatate News Reports are part of the game.
- Weather and Mood Mechanics (weight 0.2): Story mode includes a shop and weather/mood mechanics. The game has modifications available such as weather.
