About the Game
==============
Funguys Swarm is a survivor-style roguelite where you play as forest weirdos fighting the Fire King’s flaming minions. Level up, unlock new heroes, pets, skills—even mechas—and rescue creatures to grow your Forest Sanctuary for permanent upgrades. Perfect for both newcomers and seasoned survivors!
Choose from a cast of silly funguys, each with their quirky charm and unique abilities. Whether you like getting up close and personal or prefer to keep things tactical from afar, there’s a funguy for every playstyle.
Face off against never-ending waves of flaming minions, mutated veggies, and things that probably shouldn’t be on fire. The longer you last, the weirder—and wilder—it gets.
Grab upgrades mid-run and stack chaotic, over-the-top powers that turn your goofy forest friend into a full-blown nature-powered menace.
A weapon to surpass the m.... menace of the fire king! Powered by the forest and questionable engineering. It probably shouldn’t work, but it does.
Every now and then, the swarm throws a tantrum and sends in a giant boss. They're huge, unpredictable, and almost always on fire. Oh yeah, did I mention that there's even a bigger baddie at the end of each arena?
Fret not, you have the forest backing you up in the Sanctuary, a place where you can upgrade your powers to be more ridiculous than it is right now... for the right price of course!
Initial early access release includes:
*   2 Biomes
*   2 Characters
*   50 Upgrades
*   3 weapons
* and many more we lost count

- Charming visuals and sound (weight 0.26): The game features a distinctively cute, colorful, and playful art style, along with well-designed, expressive characters. Players appreciate the high-quality graphics, pleasant sound design, and humorous elements that create a lighthearted and engaging atmosphere.
- Fresh take on genre (weight 0.24): The game stands out within the 'Vampire Survivors'-like and roguelite genres by introducing fresh mechanics, diverse weapons, and unique twists while retaining genre staples. It's frequently cited as more polished and enjoyable than many similar titles, pushing the genre forward.
- Deep progression and varied builds (weight 0.21): Players appreciate the deep and satisfying meta-progression system, which includes clear skill trees and impactful upgrades. The variety of weapon, character, and skill combinations allows for creative and fun builds, ensuring each run feels rewarding and fresh.
- Impressive Early Access quality (weight 0.12): The game is highly praised for its exceptional polish, stability, and substantial content, especially considering its Early Access status. Players are impressed by the developer's active additions and the overall quality provided at this early stage of development.
- Smooth and satisfying combat (weight 0.07): Combat feels fluid and responsive, with smooth animations and a slick UI. Players enjoy the visceral satisfaction of mowing down hordes of enemies and achieving overpowered states, making the gameplay loop very engaging and destressing.
- High replayability with varied runs (weight 0.04): The game offers significant replay value, with players noting that each run feels unique due to varied upgrades, random events, and modular mutations. This keeps the experience fresh and encourages continuous play.

Common complaints:
- Insufficient Content & Replayability (weight 0.25): Players consistently report a severe lack of content, including limited levels (often only two), few characters, and weapons. This results in very short playtime (as little as 20 minutes to 3 hours to complete available content) and low replay value, making the Early Access experience feel more like a demo.
- Performance and Visual Clutter (weight 0.13): Players experience performance issues, including lag and stutter, particularly when many enemies are on screen or during weapon upgrades. Additionally, dense visual effects often obscure critical gameplay elements like projectiles and the player character.
- Uneven Difficulty Curve (weight 0.11): Feedback indicates an inconsistent difficulty curve; the game can be challenging initially but quickly becomes too easy, especially on 'Hard' mode, which often feels no different from 'Normal'. This contributes to the game feeling repetitive in longer sessions and for genre veterans.
- Unrewarding Progression System (weight 0.09): The upgrade system is criticized for offering weak, repetitive buffs with little synergy, and for quickly maxing out. Late-game progression involves a slow, uninteresting grind for minor percentage upgrades, and updates are perceived as infrequent or adding minimal content.
- Melee Weapons Underpowered (weight 0.04): Melee weapons are consistently reported as being significantly less effective and underpowered compared to ranged options. The high risk of close combat is not adequately compensated by damage, making melee builds frustrating and difficult.
- Skill & Weapon Balance Needed (weight 0.04): Beyond melee, overall weapon and skill balance requires adjustment, with some feeling scarce, unvaried, or having been nerfed excessively. Players also need better tooltips and detailed skill information during levels.
- Game Crashes & Progress Loss (weight 0.03): A significant number of players report critical game crashes, often resulting in complete loss of progress. This issue severely hinders meta-progression and the ability to complete runs, making the game unplayable for some.
- Faulty Skill Randomizer (weight 0.02): The skill shuffler system is bugged, with players reporting that rolled skills sometimes don't change or simply relocate, and refreshes often fail to provide new skill mutation directions, leading to frustration and wasted resources.
- Inconsistent Monster Health (weight 0.02): Monster balancing appears inconsistent, with some monsters being too weak, while others, particularly in the second level, are reported to have disproportionately high health, leading to uneven challenge.

Gameplay feedback:
- Familiar Survivor-like Roguelike (weight 0.1): Players consistently identify the game as a 'survivor-like' or 'Vampire Survivors-like' roguelike, featuring auto-combat and bullet-hell elements. It offers mechanics familiar to fans of the genre without significantly reinventing the wheel.
- Variable Difficulty & Curse System (weight 0.09): The game offers Normal and Hard difficulties, with later levels escalating into bullet-hell challenges. While some players find it difficult and time-consuming to master, others report easily overcoming bosses and hard modes, especially by effectively managing the unique 'curse' system which can be reduced during runs.
- Unique Theme, Core Elements (weight 0.07): The game presents a distinctive theme where players control a fungus character battling evil vegetables. Core gameplay involves facing constant enemy swarms, engaging in boss battles, utilizing a pet system, and encountering unique challenges through an 'Encounter' mechanic that encourages exploration.

Performance notes:
- Performance and Optimization Concerns (weight 0.05): Players report experiencing FPS drops and lag, especially during intense moments with many enemies or visual effects on screen, or when upgrading weapons. While some recent hotfixes have addressed performance, the current lack of dedicated graphics settings limits player control over optimization. Specific 'cast on hit' and 'cast chance' builds also contribute to minor performance issues.
- Crisp Sound Design (weight 0.01): Players appreciate the game's overall crisp sound design. The audio feedback for skills, particularly lightning and earth abilities, is highlighted as satisfying and impactful.

Recommendations:
- Eagerly Awaits Future Content (weight 0.35): Players are highly enthusiastic about the game's future, expressing strong anticipation for more updates, new content (e.g., levels, characters, skills, maps, weapons), and the full 1.0 release. There's a clear desire for increased depth, variety, and the fulfillment of early access potential, with some holding off on deeper engagement until more content is available.
- Excellent Value & Highly Recommended (weight 0.3): The game is widely recommended, especially given its low price point ($5/€5) in Early Access. Players consider it a 'no-brainer' purchase, offering significant enjoyment and quality for the cost, often rating it very highly. There's a strong sentiment that players should buy it to support the developers and enjoy its current state and future growth.
- Strong Appeal to Roguelite Fans (weight 0.07): Players highly recommend the game to fans of 'Vampire Survivors,' 'Brotato,' 'Spellbrigade,' and other bullet-heaven/roguelite/swarm-style games. It's seen as a fresh, cute, and engaging alternative for those seeking a challenging but not frustrating experience in the genre, or a break from darker themes.
