About the Game
==============
Before **Eufloria HD (2014)**, there was **Eufloria (2009)**. The long-unlisted indie classic is available once again for the 15 year anniversary. Updated to run on modern systems, with new content, features, and expanded moddability.
Old school intergalactic floral warfare is BACK! (Warts and all!)
**Before You Buy**
------------------
**Eufloria Classic** is a re-release of the original version of **Eufloria (2009)**, with some modern quality of life changes, and not a new Eufloria game nor a sequel to **Eufloria HD (2014)**. It is a “warts and all” anniversary release, with only non-disruptive changes or objective improvements made. Anything that affects the “feel” of the **original Eufloria** has remained unchanged.
**Is this for me?**
-------------------
While **Eufloria HD** boasts a number of improvements lacking in **Eufloria Classic**, we are offering a number of things not available elsewhere:
* It is the only release that supports mods and custom levels, and is backward compatible with all previously released mods that work with the original game.
* We included two entirely new game modes, with two sample levels per mode. We plan to release more together with the modding community.
* Entirely new music from the original composer for the game, Milieu.
* Finally; for some people the original version is the preferred version, despite its limitations, and this allows them to play it once again, pretty much exactly how they remembered it.
**Eufloria Classic** is free to all owners of **Eufloria (2009)**, simply update and launch that version in your Steam library to see a new option to play **Eufloria Classic**. It is also heavily discounted for owners of **Eufloria HD (2014)** via the Steam bundle linked above.
**Eufloria (2009)** is from a bygone age of small monitors, and as such does not always play nicely with high resolution displays (1440p/4K). The game will still run at high resolutions, but your mileage may vary on visual scaling. If you have a 1440p or higher display, we recommend downloading the demo first to make sure the game displays correctly for you.
If you do encounter issues, there might still be workarounds. These are listed and kept up to date on our Steam forums.
**Grow your own Units**
-----------------------
Conquer asteroids in space and use their resources to grow **floral creatures** that do the player's bidding. **Expand your empire** and fight for resources against several teams of opponents that all vie for the same resources and can offer fierce opposition.
**Timeless, Gorgeous and Accessible**
-------------------------------------
Presented in a unique and gorgeous **floral aesthetic**, the game can be played competitively or in a relaxed, ambient style. _You_ choose how to play.
**Endless Replayability**
-------------------------
Along a **25 level campaign mode**, a host of additional modes offer **procedural levels** that offer endless replayability. Add to that a vast number of **mods and user levels** plus an active mod community and you will not soon run out of challenges.
**Features:**
-------------
* 25 level Single player campaign
*   8 Level “Skirmish Mode”
*   Unlockable “Dark Matter” mode
* Hours of wonderful ambient music by “Milieu”
* Procedural levels – great for replayability
*   Community levels
*   And more
But to **celebrate** the new release and reward loyal fans we have also added:
*   New “Regrowth” Game Mode
*   New "Gardening" Mode
* New original music by “Milieu"
*   Enhanced modding options
*   Game Speedup buttons
* A whole treasure trove of bonus files, art, stories, and concepts
*   Updated UI support
*   Updated Demo

Feature extractions:
- Community Price:
  - Community fair range: $8.00 - $15.00
  - Reasoning: The reviews consistently highlight the game's outstanding value for its price, with one reviewer specifically comparing the cost to that of a pint and emphasizing 60 hours of content. Positive phrases like 'well worth the money' and 'bang for your buck' indicate the community views the current price as a bargain, suggesting a fair price range should be above the entry-level point. However, cautious remarks from players familiar with earlier Eufloria titles introduce a ceiling to how much veterans would pay, so the range should remain modest.

The other quotes do not provide concrete playtime numbers for the target game.

Common complaints:
- Same as existing versions with bugs (weight 0.58): Reviewers point out that this classic edition is essentially identical to Eufloria HD or the original, with no major improvements or new content. It retains old bugs and even introduces new ones, feeling like a money grab.
- Missing features from HD version (weight 0.48): Multiple users note that features like beacons, waypoints, and auto-send mechanics from Eufloria HD are absent in this version. This reduces functionality and convenience compared to earlier releases.
- RNG issues in specific missions (weight 0.43): Mission 18 (hide and seek) is repeatedly criticized for being random, unfair, and frustrating, with outcomes often depending on AI behavior. This level ruins the experience for many players.
- Game lacks challenge and depth (weight 0.39): Several reviewers feel the game is too simple, boring, or offers little strategic depth, with few decisions to make. This makes the experience less engaging for veteran players.
- Missing quality of life features (weight 0.37): The game lacks many quality of life improvements from other versions, such as keyboard shortcuts, resolution options, and restart buttons. This makes the user experience outdated and inconvenient.
- Low content and short campaign (weight 0.37): Players notice reduced content compared to previous versions, with new modes having only a few maps and the entire game being finishable in about an hour. This leads to disappointment.
- Troop caps and aiming issues (weight 0.32): The game imposes a cap on seedlings per planet, and aiming when directing seedlings is difficult, easily cancelling moves. This leads to excessive clicking and disrupts gameplay flow.
- Graphics inferior to HD version (weight 0.3): The graphics are described as blurry, smudgy, and poorly adapted for modern resolutions, especially at 4K. This makes the game less pleasant to look at compared to Eufloria HD.
- New modes lack substance (weight 0.26): The new Gardening and Regrowth modes offer only two levels each and have strange goal settings without new rules. They are considered undercooked and uninteresting.
- Difficulty imbalance across missions (weight 0.25): Some missions are too easy, while others are extremely hard, especially near the end. The protection missions are particularly annoying due to ineffective AI allies, and level 18 can be unfairly crushing at start.

- No Steam Workshop or modding support (weight 0.19): The absence of Steam Workshop and difficult modding limits the game's replayability and customization options. Players expected better support for user-created content.
- Localization and font quality issues (weight 0.18): The game does not support East Asian languages like Chinese and uses bitmap fonts, making localization difficult. This affects accessibility for non-English players.
- Technical issues with zoom and resolution (weight 0.18): On ultra-wide monitors, the game cannot zoom out fully, making only one asteroid visible and unplayable. Also, the window cannot be resized very small, and resolution options are missing.
- No Steam Cloud save feature (weight 0.15): The game still lacks Steam Cloud save support, which was a feature expected by players. This is seen as a significant omission for a remaster, especially since it was available in other versions.
- Crashes and bugs when exiting levels (weight 0.14): There are reports of crashes when finishing a level or achievement and exiting the level, indicating instability. These bugs were not present in the original and hinder progress.
- Mechanics removed from original (weight 0.13): The removal of auto-send tree mechanics and other strategic elements reduces depth, making some levels impossible without certain growth trees. This is a step backward in design.
- Slow pacing and boredom for veterans (weight 0.13): The pacing can be slow for veteran strategy players, with frequent waiting for trees to spawn troops. This leads to a sense of boredom and lack of engagement.
