Info about Atomic Exile:

Official game description:
Atomic Exile is a top down post-apocalyptic extraction shooter set in the desert wastelands of near future America. You will visit enclaves, explore devastated ruins and encounter NPCs such as other survivors, raiders, mutated beasts and rogue machines. Each run is a new experience with procedural generation ensuring that exploring the same area twice is never the same.
Equipment
You will start with the bare essentials. Scavenge clothing and food from the wasteland. Return to town and trade for supplies. Find valuable items to turn into cold cash. Stock up on medicine food, water and bullets. If you want to drive don’t forget fuel and tools.
Driving
The ruins are full of abandoned vehicles. With a little ingenuity some of these cars may be made to run again. Bring along fuel and tools and try your luck with repairs. Be warned a running engine is noisy and may attract trouble. Don’t forget to search the trunk. The previous owner may have left something useful behind.
Weapons
Find weapons to modify. Add enhanced sights, improve handling with better grips, swap out magazines and more. Craft the weapon that’s right for each situation.
Stealth
The denizens of the wasteland are on alert for wayward travellers. Keep out of sight and keep quiet unless you want to be diner. To much noise will bring unwanted attention. Even turning a door handle can alert nearby enemies.
Health
The wasteland is a dangerous place. Look after your health with medical supplies, food and water. Rest when you need to, run if you have to and drive when you can.

- Proton/Linux: score 75; verdict: Barely Playable on Steam Deck; summary: Only two relevant reviews mention Linux/Steam Deck compatibility. Both discuss Steam Deck playability: one says the game runs but the interface is not ready, and the other says it cannot currently be played on Steam Deck. There is no mention of Proton versions, launch options, or workarounds. The mixed evidence suggests incomplete Steam Deck support that blocks or severely limits play for at least some users.
- Steam Deck: score 70; verdict: Broken / Unplayable on Steam Deck; summary: User feedback highlights major Steam Deck friction: the game is reported as unplayable by at least one user, the interface is unfinished and not user-friendly, controller support is missing or unintuitive, and stability is a concern. Although one reviewer calls it playable, the overall Deck experience is not ready.

- Playtime Metrics:
  - Game completion: 10.0h
  - Story completion: 10.0h
  - Session length: 5.0h
  - Endgame: N/A
  - Reasoning: The review explicitly states 10 hours of content with all quests, upgrades, and levels completed, supporting gameCompletion and storyCompletion around 10 hours. Another reviewer reports finishing all tasks and current best equipment in 6 hours, showing some variance. A single session of over 5 hours is cited, so sessionLength is set to 5 hours. The 50-hour mention is total playtime in Early Access, not clearly an endgame duration, so endgame is left null.
- Time-to-fun:
  - Summary: Players report immediate or early fun and an addictive loop, but one explicit report says the game becomes boring after the first 2 hours, making the profile fun then drops.
  - Stance: Fun then drops

  - Conditions: Early game with no equipment feels like a challenge and is fun.; Fun lasts for the first 2 hours before becoming boring.; Lack of multiplayer and uncertain replayability creates initial hesitation.; Adding multiplayer could make the game a real gem.; Progression gated behind craftable buildings motivates continued play.

- Crafting and base building engaging (weight 0.12): Crafting systems and base utilities to grind materials for are engaging. Progression is tied to building and upgrading your base.

Common complaints:
- Frequent crashes and game-breaking bugs (weight 0.86): Many players report crashes during inventory interactions, at the main menu, on launch, and while switching weapon attachments, sometimes causing save corruption or lost progress. These issues prevent the game from being played reliably and often require restarts.
- Insufficient content and early access scope (weight 0.81): The game offers very little content for an early access title, with only about 5 hours of quests, a couple of maps, few enemy types, and no compelling endgame. Players frequently note it feels like a demo and lacks the depth to compete with similar games.
- Lack of core content and replayability (weight 0.51): The game lacks replayable or progressive gameplay elements such as a solid loot pool, sufficient quests, or endgame activities. Once the short questline is finished, there is nothing meaningful to do.
- Unbalanced inventory and weight system (weight 0.5): Inventory space is extremely limited, weight limits are punishingly low, and item stacking is restrictive, forcing players to spend excessive time managing loot. Being slightly over the weight limit prevents movement entirely.
- Ammunition and attachment issues (weight 0.47): Different ammo types (AP, FMJ) have no noticeable difference in damage, and many ammo types are redundant or too expensive. Weapon attachments often do not work or cannot be swapped, adding frustration.
- Need for quality-of-life improvements (weight 0.41): The game requires significant quality-of-life updates, including better inventory management, clearer UI, easier gear swapping, and more intuitive controls. Many basic convenience features are missing.
- Broken economy and progression (weight 0.41): The economy is too simple, with cheap ammunition, no meaningful gear progression, and a lack of a hobo phase. Death has no negative consequences, and most gear can be bought from shops, removing the sense of achievement.
- AI inconsistencies and bugs (weight 0.38): Enemy AI behavior is inconsistent: human enemies detect and shoot from extreme ranges, while zombies often fail to attack or only do so at very close range. This randomness breaks immersion and strategic fun.
- Poor audio design and noise issues (weight 0.37): Footstep sounds are described as artificial, too loud, and grating, while interface and inventory sounds contribute to excessive sensory noise. Weapon audio also needs improvement, detracting from immersion.
- Invisible and missing items bugs (weight 0.35): Players report items, weapons, and even the player sprite turning invisible, sometimes permanently deleted. This leads to lost gear and confusion, often requiring restarts.
- Weak and fragile vehicles (weight 0.33): Vehicles break after only a few hits or shots, consume fuel too quickly, and are expensive to refuel. They also provide limited visibility while driving, leading to constant damage and frustration.
- Poor loot and reward systems (weight 0.33): Loot is unrewarding, with most items being low value and expensive guns rarely dropping. Enemies do not drop everything they carry, and quest rewards are lackluster, reducing motivation to explore.
- Repetitive and boring quest design (weight 0.31): Quests are criticized for being trivial and repetitive, such as fetching a sandwich, and often require revisiting the same small maps repeatedly. This makes gameplay feel monotonous and unrewarding.
- Weak medical and survival systems (weight 0.3): The medical system is chaotic: bleeding is overly punishing, infection is irrelevant, and healing supplies are inconsistent. The character feels too fragile, requiring excessive healing items.
- Vision and visibility bugs (weight 0.22): Players cannot see through open or glass doors unless stepping through, and visibility behind buildings is inconsistent. These issues hinder situational awareness and combat.
- Short weapon range and ballistics (weight 0.22): Weapons have extremely short effective range, with bullets dropping after 15-20 yards, making combat feel like using air guns. This is especially problematic against humanoid enemies.
- Steam Deck compatibility problems (weight 0.17): The game crashes frequently on Steam Deck and the interface is not fully optimized for the device, making it difficult or impossible to play. This limits portability and accessibility.
- Overpriced for early access (weight 0.13): Many reviewers feel the game is priced too high given the limited content and early access state. The cost does not match the amount of finished gameplay available.
- Landmine issues and hitbox problems (weight 0.12): Landmines are ubiquitous, have hitboxes extending beyond their sprites, and defusing them can randomly fail and kill the player. This creates unfair deaths and frustration.
- Stealth and sound detection problems (weight 0.08): Sound and vision routines are seemingly not properly implemented, making enemy detection random and eliminating stealth as a viable tactic. This undermines the tactical gameplay experience.

Gameplay feedback:
- Top-down extraction shooter (weight 0.31): The game is described as a top-down extraction looter shooter. This perspective and genre blend define the core gameplay loop.

- Weapon and gun customization (weight 0.23): Players highlight extensive gun and melee weapon modification, with customization systems including a garage and workbench. This suggests deep personalization options for combat gear.
- Maps filled with loot (weight 0.18): The game includes multiple maps that are full of loot and populated by zombies. Exploration and scavenging are central to the experience.
- Loot system and scavenging (weight 0.18): A loot system exists where players can scavenge items from the world. This is a core mechanic driving progression and survival.
- Diverse ammunition types (weight 0.17): Different ammunition types such as armor piercing and FMJ are available. This adds tactical depth to combat and loadout choices.
- Economy and progression system (weight 0.12): An economy and progression system are present, likely tied to loot and upgrades. This provides long-term goals and resource management.
- Zombies and bandits enemies (weight 0.12): Players fight against zombies and gangs/bandits. These enemy types populate the maps and provide combat challenges.
- Crafting workbenches available (weight 0.12): Crafting workbenches, including weapon workbenches, are part of the game. They enable players to create and modify equipment.
