About the Game
==============
**Save the Crystal. Save the World.**
-------------------------------------
Here in the world of the Blightstone you’ll find deep strategy, blended seamlessly with roguelike progression. Your mission? To protect the Earthglass Crystal, and deliver it to the Infernal Rift. Only by doing this will you be able to destroy the demon overlord Korghul, and shatter the Blightstone itself.
Die, die, and die again. Cunning and keen wit (though looking at our options even a solitary spark of wit will have to suffice) are key to saving this realm.
Use the environment to your advantage with objects, enemies and even the weather itself providing strategic opportunities and challenges. Each failure provides invaluable opportunity to learn and collect new skills to help your next adventure.
**Hold the Line — Use Every Skill, Trap, and Tactic to Protect the Crystal**
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
**A Dynamic Battlefield**
-------------------------
Enjoy free movement, without grid-based systems, allowing you to move into strategic cover. Just remember, enemies aren’t restricted by grids either, and there’s always an angle.
**The Environment Is Yours to Command:** Hide in long grass or burn it to stop enemies using it for cover. Gather enemies in water to amplify electric attacks. Use every advantage you can get to shatter the Blightstone.
**Harness the Weather to Your Advantage:** Dynamic weather will have an impact on Adventurer’s strategies. Dense fog obscures the battlefield, rain will amplify electric attacks and strong winds will affect accuracy. It can bring as many benefits as it does drawbacks, as long as you pay attention.
**Recruit your heroes**
-----------------------
Find new heroes and companions to help you along your journey. Chose from Brawler, Hunter, Arcanist, Druid and Priest classes, each with their own unique abilities and companions.
**Master a vast skillset:** Unlock a wide range of active and passive combat skills for our troop of adventurers and for the Earthglass crystal itself. Mater melee, ranged, area of effect and grappling skills, and combine them for heavy-hitting combos.
**Status effects that sting:** Bleeding, poison, binding, stun or burn, dozens of combat conditions can swing the course of each battle. Just remember it won’t always swing your way!
**Strategy that doesn’t stop when the sun goes down.**
------------------------------------------------------
Adventurers must stay sharp from dawn to dusk, as your party sets up camp each night. Scavenge resources within battles to ensure you have enough to heal and avoid the Blight after the sun falls.
**Procedural generation means that each journey is different from the last.**
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the journey progresses, you will also unravel the story behind the infernal rift, the Earthglass, the Blightstone, and the enemies that you face along the way.

- Solid core gameplay foundation (weight 0.83): The game's core mechanics, including combat, exploration, and RPG elements, are described as well-thought-out and engaging. The foundation is praised for its potential and polish, even in Early Access.
- Responsive and active developers (weight 0.82): The developers are commended for their responsiveness to feedback, frequent updates, and clear content roadmap. Early Access is described as purposeful and well-executed, with a strong foundation for future growth.
- Well-integrated RPG elements (weight 0.78): RPG elements, such as character leveling, equipment systems, and exploration, are praised for their integration with the core gameplay. These features add depth and variety to the player experience.

Common complaints:
- Unbalanced and punishing difficulty (weight 0.69): The game features uneven difficulty spikes, hardcore mechanics (e.g., one-shot kills, no saves), and poor fault tolerance. Casual players are deterred by the steep learning curve and lack of accessibility options.
- Short and repetitive gameplay (weight 0.64): Players consistently report the game is too short (3-6 hours) with limited content, repetitive combat, and no increasing difficulty. The lack of meaningful progression or variety leads to boredom after multiple runs.
- Technical and performance issues (weight 0.58): Frequent crashes, freezes, and optimization problems (e.g., requiring low settings for 30 FPS) detract from gameplay. Slow animations and lack of controller support further hinder accessibility.
- Poor UI/UX and QoL issues (weight 0.31): Critical usability problems include overlapping tooltips, invisible enemy ranges, unclear map markers, and no undo functionality. These issues force guesswork and increase frustration during tactical play.
- Limited character/team variety (weight 0.29): Only 3-5 playable characters are available, with restrictive team sizes (3 members) and unbalanced classes (e.g., weak melee fighters, useless Druid skills). Build diversity is shallow due to rigid skill/gear dependencies.
- Grindy meta-progression (weight 0.25): Post-game growth systems (e.g., threads, crystals) are tedious, poorly balanced, and artificially extend playtime. Players criticize the lack of meaningful rewards and excessive grinding for basic upgrades.

Gameplay feedback:
- Deep tactical turn-based combat (weight 0.98): The game features a gridless, turn-based combat system with action points, environmental interactions, and elemental effects (e.g., wet status affecting fire damage). Players must strategize positioning, terrain, and ability usage for optimal outcomes.
- Environmental and elemental interactions (weight 0.94): Dynamic environments allow for creative tactics, such as throwing enemies into pits, triggering explosive barrels, or using weather effects (e.g., rain causing wet status). Elemental reactions (e.g., fire + water) add layers of strategy to combat.
- Roguelite structure with meta-progression (weight 0.81): The game employs a roguelite format with permadeath, procedural generation, and run-based progression. Between runs, players unlock permanent upgrades (e.g., skills, gear) and manage resources like thread or talent points to reduce difficulty in subsequent attempts.
- Comparisons to genre-defining titles (weight 0.6): The game draws frequent comparisons to *Darkest Dungeon*, *Slay the Spire*, and *XCOM* for its tactical depth, roguelite structure, and art style. These references highlight its blend of strategy, replayability, and challenge.
- Out-of-combat resource management (weight 0.44): Between battles, players manage resources like money, equipment, and campfire skills (e.g., healing, buffs). Base-building elements and inventory systems encourage strategic planning beyond combat.
- Map exploration and rewards (weight 0.43): Tree-like map structures with nodes (combat, shops, events) encourage exploration. Players unlock map insights for rewards (e.g., secret routes, goodies), adding replayability to each run.
- Weather and terrain effects (weight 0.39): Random weather conditions (e.g., fog, rain) and terrain (e.g., pits, thorn walls) dynamically alter strategy. For example, fog hides enemy information, while rain enables elemental reactions like electrocuting wet foes.
- Early Access with content roadmap (weight 0.06): Currently in Early Access, the game offers limited content (e.g., one act with three maps) but promises expansions like new characters, scenarios, and mechanics. Players note its potential despite the current scope.
- Corruption and health mechanics (weight 0.05): A corruption (or madness) system penalizes heroes over time, adding a layer of risk-reward to prolonged runs. Health management and status effects (e.g., bleed, knockback) further complicate combat strategies.
- Lack of combat rewind mechanics (weight 0.05): Players criticize the absence of an undo or rewind function for mistakes during combat, which can lead to frustrating losses in a game with high difficulty and permadeath.

Performance notes:
- Poor optimization and performance issues (weight 0.08): The game suffers from frame drops, overheating GPUs even at low settings, and general optimization problems. Some players note FPS issues or forced 30 FPS caps.
- Frequent crashes on mid-range hardware (weight 0.05): Players with RTX 2060 and i7 processors report frequent crashes, freezes, and black screens. This suggests stability issues tied to specific hardware configurations.
- Save data loss (weight 0.02): Some players experience unexpected loss of save data, which severely impacts progress and overall satisfaction with the game.
- No ultra-wide monitor support (weight 0.02): Players with ultra-wide monitors report a lack of native support, limiting immersion and accessibility for this hardware setup.

Recommendations:
- Balance difficulty and progression (weight 0.23): Feedback emphasizes smoothing the difficulty curve, optimizing grindiness, and improving in-run progression. Early-game balance and backtracking are also cited as areas needing refinement.
- Improve UI and tooltip clarity (weight 0.22): Players frequently request better visibility of tooltips, enemy information (e.g., movement ranges, attack damage), and a skill compendium. A toggle or button hold for tooltips and a transparent attribute panel would enhance usability.
- Add undo/rewind mechanics (weight 0.22): Multiple clusters highlight the need for an 'undo' button or action retracing feature to correct misclicks or tactical errors. This would reduce frustration and improve strategic depth.
- Improve boss telegraphing and clarity (weight 0.2): Players struggle with unclear boss attacks and movement ranges. Better telegraphing and visible enemy stats would improve tactical decision-making.
- Wait for full release or updates (weight 0.2): Some players advise waiting for bug fixes, balance improvements, or the full release, citing limited content and rough edges in Early Access.
- Recommend for tactical roguelike fans (weight 0.18): Despite criticisms, the game is highly recommended for fans of strategic, slower-paced roguelikes or tactical RPGs, especially at a discounted price.
- Add more content and replay value (weight 0.1): Clusters highlight the need for more characters, gear variety, procedural generation, and non-combat growth rewards to improve replayability and break combat monotony.
- Expand character and build variety (weight 0.1): Players want more starting skill/build options, hybrid rune systems, and reduced duplicate skills. Melee character balance and recovery options are also critical for role differentiation.
- Optimize animations and combat speed (weight 0.05): Players suggest configurable or faster animations and combat speed options (e.g., 1.5x–2x) to reduce downtime and improve pacing.
- Enhance meta-progression and story (weight 0.05): Feedback calls for deeper meta-progression (e.g., legendary skills) and more narrative/story elements to add context and long-term engagement.
- Increase team size flexibility (weight 0.04): Requests include allowing 4-5 character parties without health penalties or adding penalty-free mid-run team size adjustments. This would enhance tactical diversity.
- Adjust UI scaling and customization (weight 0.02): Requests include UI scaling and font customization to improve accessibility and readability for different screen sizes.

Other player notes:
- Missing Spanish language support (weight 0.05): Players criticize the absence of Spanish language options despite the game being developed by a Spanish studio. This oversight frustrates native speakers and contradicts the studio's origin.
- Pay-to-win concerns from Chinese players (weight 0.05): Chinese players express dissatisfaction with perceived pay-to-win mechanics, influencing mixed reviews. These concerns highlight cultural differences in monetization expectations.
- Early Access feedback and expectations (weight 0.05): The game's Early Access status is frequently mentioned, with players acknowledging ongoing development but also expressing caution about current stability and content completeness.
- Meta progression speed improved (weight 0.02): A recent patch addressed player complaints by accelerating meta progression, suggesting responsiveness to feedback but also prior dissatisfaction with pacing.

Emotions:
- Frustration (weight 0.31): Players experience frustration primarily due to extreme difficulty spikes, punishing mechanics, and poor balance. Issues like frequent crashes, unskippable animations, and lack of controller support exacerbate the problem. Additionally, repetitive combat, shallow progression systems, and unfair boss mechanics contribute to a sense of unfairness and oppressiveness in gameplay.
- Disappointment (weight 0.12): Disappointment stems from the game's lack of content, shallow mechanics, and unfulfilled expectations. Players feel a sense of accomplishment when overcoming challenges, improving their skills, and discovering effective tactics. The game's simplicity and focus, along with its addictive loop, contribute to a fulfilling experience.

- Anger (weight 0.02): Anger arises from poor design choices, such as flawed debuff mechanics and frequent crashes that lead to lost progress. Players feel that some issues, like unfair difficulty or lack of testing, are intentional, which exacerbates their frustration.
- Optimism (weight 0.02): Optimism is tied to the game's Early Access status and the expectation of future updates. Players believe the game has room to grow and improve, with upcoming content and optimizations addressing current flaws.
- Confusion (weight 0.01): Confusion stems from unclear mechanics, such as inconsistent skill triggers or timing-based interactions. Mixed reviews and personal experiences also contribute to uncertainty about the game's quality and design intent.
- Admiration (weight 0.01): Players admire the game's strategic depth and its ability to restore the essence of classical tactical games. The thoughtful design and engaging gameplay mechanics earn high praise from fans of the genre.
- Boredom (weight 0.01): Boredom results from repetitive scenarios and unengaging content, particularly in later runs. The lack of variety and shallow progression systems make the gameplay feel monotonous over time.
- Immersion (weight 0): The game's oppressive dark fantasy atmosphere immerses players in its world, creating a compelling and engaging experience. The art style and environmental design contribute to this sense of immersion.
- Confidence (weight 0): Confidence in the game stems from the developers' active involvement and commitment to future updates. Players trust that ongoing support will address current issues and improve the overall experience.
