Star Birds is a relaxing asteroid base-building and resource management game where you help your population of spacefaring birds prosper and thrive. No matter if you're a genre veteran or want to get a foot into an oftentimes overwhelming space: the Star Birds will be happy to have you by their side. And not just because chaos would ensue very quickly without you.
Scan and claim nearby asteroids to mine resources ranging from ice and metals to rather obscure things. Build production facilities and automate the manufacturing of increasingly advanced goods. Deliver products to your space station to fulfill quests that satisfy the needs of your birds, however odd these might be. Establish transportation routes to create a bustling cosmic production network, advance your technology and ultimately take off to foreign star systems to pursue the mysteries of your galaxy!
**360° Base Building**
Place buildings on procedurally generated asteroids and build your own little worlds floating in space. Use each asteroid's unique shape and available surface to create the perfect production network. Take the role of a cosmic pioneer and strategically place and connect production facilities with hand-drawn-pipes to optimize your resource flow.
**Explore and Experiment**
Gather resources and explore different ways to transform and combine them into a variety of goods you're going to need for your mission. Investigate the asteroid's surface, overcome unforeseen obstacles and excavate mysterious artifacts.
**Missions and Mysteries**
Follow strange traces and lead your crew to uncover a big secret awaiting you in the far reaches of your galaxy. Explore and master the oddities of foreign star systems to conclude this adventurous journey.
**Automate and Admire**
Establish an ever-growing network of production chains throughout your star system. Improve and optimize, or sit back and watch the satisfying rhythm of your bustling space factory.
**Collect and Complete**
Fill your collection with all the things you find on your journey! Take on bonus challenges and earn shiny medals for perfecting your setup.

Common complaints:
- Limited Content & Repetitive Gameplay (weight 0.34): Players feel the game is too short, offering only 3-7 hours of gameplay, and quickly becomes repetitive due to a lack of diverse mechanics, challenge, or an endless mode. This significantly impacts replayability and overall longevity.
- Unclear Progression & Mechanics (weight 0.32): Players find the progression path unclear, sometimes leading to soft locks or confusion about how to advance. Core mechanics like credit/research point acquisition and pipe management are often described as irritating or finicky.
- Clunky Controls & UI/UX Issues (weight 0.31): Players report clunky controls, especially with missions and rover pathfinding. The user interface and experience are generally poor, with issues like enormous icons, unclear utility of features, and difficulty in managing complex production lines.
- Lack of Quality of Life Features (weight 0.25): The game is missing several quality-of-life features, such as cloud saves, controller support, and the ability to review dialogue. These omissions detract from convenience and accessibility.
- Numerous Bugs & Glitches (weight 0.22): The game suffers from various bugs, including UI issues, crashes, resource display problems, and progression blockers. While some are minor, others significantly hinder gameplay and player progress.
- Misaligned Expectations & Genre Fit (weight 0.19): Many players expected a deeper, more complex base-building or puzzle game akin to Factorio or Dyson Sphere Program, but found the game shallow. Some felt it was more suited for children despite its complexity, leading to disappointment.
- Performance & Optimization Issues (weight 0.07): The game is reported to be taxing on hardware, leading to bad performance and heavy lag, especially on asteroids with many active elements. This impacts the overall smoothness of the gameplay experience.

Gameplay feedback:
- Core Gameplay: Logistics Puzzle (weight 0.56): The game is primarily a resource management and factory automation game, often compared to Factorio or Satisfactory, but with a unique focus on logistics puzzles across multiple asteroids. Players must strategically plan production chains, manage resource input/output, and transport materials between asteroids to craft items and complete objectives.

While basic objectives are manageable, achieving optional challenges and higher scores significantly deepens the difficulty.

It blends elements of puzzle games and mobile-style mechanics, offering a lighter experience while still requiring strategic thought.
- Asteroid-Based Constraints (weight 0.13): A core mechanic involves limited space and specific crater slots on asteroids for placing buildings and rockets. This constraint forces players to carefully plan layouts and manage resources, as pipelines and power lines cannot cross, adding a layer of complexity to logistics.
- Optional Challenges & Replayability (weight 0.12): Beyond the main campaign, the game offers optional side missions, achievements, and challenge quests that encourage replaying levels. These challenges, such as completing levels without upgrades or achieving target scores, provide significant depth and increase replay value.
- Varied Mission Objectives (weight 0.1): Each level presents unique crafting recipes, varied initial resources, and specific goals, preventing a single standard development path. Players must adapt their strategies, research new technologies, and explore asteroids to collect necessary materials.
- In-Game Wiki for Materials (weight 0.04): The game includes an in-game wiki that helps players track and manage discovered materials, which is a useful feature for understanding crafting recipes and resource dependencies.
- Steam Deck Compatibility (weight 0.03): The game is fully playable on Steam Deck, with all controls, including stick rotation and bumper zoom, functioning correctly, offering a good portable experience.
