What kind of adventure lies ahead? And who will you meet along the way? It’s up to you now Captain. Remember to support your crew, follow your heart, and always take care of each other.
Gameplay!
---------
* **Customize your space** - Whether you like to maximize your resource production with machines, or enjoy planting a collection of fresh crops, it’s up to you. With tons of machines, decorations, furniture, wall patterns, floor textures, paths and more, you can customize your living space just the way you like. Expand your living quarters. Configure your deck space. You can even build on the outer hull of the ship itself!
* **Crafting, Farming, & Cooking** - Craft a range of useful machines and decorations using your workbench. Grow, nurture, and harvest crops right aboard your ship. Then of course cook some delicious recipes in your upgraded kitchen. Outer Hull Planters? What kind of crops would grow in the vacuum of space?
* **Befriend your crew** - Families, friends, and singles are all excited to welcome you to your very own cozy space ship community. You will start out with a tight-knit crew of 20 aboard your ship, but you will be sure to meet many new friends along the way. You will build relationships through daily dialogues, sharing gifts, story cinematics, mission objectives, and eventually you will get to know each one intimately throughout your long journey together. The more you develop these relationships, the more your tiny community will feel like home.
* **Xeno** - Hatch and raise a variety of cute little aliens known as Xeno. Give them plenty of love, attention, and food to watch them grow.
* **Restore your ship** - Your Restoration Ray will clean up anything small, but upgrades purchased in the Machine Shop will help to restore broken or vacant areas aboard your ship. These upgrades will unlock new features, new crew opportunities, and help rebuild your ship community once again.
* **Explore new worlds** - Your spaceship can take you to far-away and undiscovered planets. Explore alien worlds and scavenge for a large variety of resources useful for building new machines, upgrading your tools, and completing your missions. Be warned though… you will no doubt encounter wild alien lifeforms that are less than friendly on each planet. Keep your cool and give them a zap from your trusty Laser Blaster.
* **Romance** - Build a friendship, date, and marry one of 10 singles aboard the ship. Each one with a unique backstory and a wide range of personal likes and dislikes. If you can win their affection and upgrade to a large home then you can pop the question. Once married, you will have a lifelong companion to share your quarters with. But can you marry someone that is an android, an alien, or a genetic clone? Yes. Yes, you can.
* **Rank up to full-fledged captain** - You will begin as a captain-in-training and rise through the ranks as you grow your leadership skills. Mission Objective, Crew Morale, Ship Improvements, Resource Production, and Microbe Research are all factors in becoming a truly great Space Alliance captain. Captain ranks also come with credit bonuses, new machines, decorations, or customizable pieces each time you increase your rank.
* **Microbe Research** - Good, Bad, Neutral, and Wild microbes are loose on your ship! Using your Microbe Detector, you will want to collect them for research, use them for crafting, or sell them for credits. Can you catch and collect all of the microbes living in your ship’s microbiome?
* **Museum** - While on different planets, discover amazing artifacts and gems of exceptional beauty. Meet Hermy, the exploration Hermit crab with an abnormal passion for collecting things. Help him complete his museum’s Gem, Artifact, and Microbe collections for everyone to enjoy.
* **Player Customization** - Create your own look with interesting hair styles, color palettes, accessories, and hats. Perhaps you will even discover hot new trends in the universe.
* **Full controller support** - Plug in your favorite controller or get cozy with your Steam Deck.
* **Original soundtrack** - Composed by the very talented Dale North.

- Forgiving and relaxed gameplay (weight 0.03): The game is very forgiving, with only minor stamina loss as a penalty for death or staying up too late. This makes the game more accessible and enjoyable for players who are not good at fighting or who prefer a more relaxed experience.

Common complaints:
- Excessive, unrewarding resource grind (weight 0.47): The game is excessively grindy due to resource scarcity, slow progression, and repetitive tasks. Players feel forced to constantly gather materials, wait for upgrades, and perform monotonous actions, leading to frustration and a sense of unrewarding effort. Many reviewers compare the grind unfavorably to similar games like Stardew Valley.
- Rapid energy depletion (weight 0.28): Energy depletes too quickly, limiting the number of actions players can perform in a day. This forces players to manage their energy consumption carefully, adding to the grind and slowing down progression.
- Repetitive gameplay and interactions (weight 0.27): The game suffers from repetitive elements, including planet exploration, NPC dialogue, and music. Planets feel similar, crew interactions lack depth, and the limited music tracks become tiresome, diminishing the overall experience.
- Unenjoyable microbe mini-game (weight 0.07): The microbe mini-game is boring, repetitive, and difficult, requiring precise timing and fast reactions. Some players found it frustrating enough to almost quit the game.
- Excessively long crafting times (weight 0.06): Crafting and processing times are excessively long, hindering progress and enjoyment. Players are forced to wait around for machines to finish, making the game feel tedious.
- Poor money balance (weight 0.05): The game lacks late-game money sinks, making money feel useless after a certain point. The cost of items and upgrades feels too high.
- Ineffective tool upgrades (weight 0.03): Tool upgrades feel ineffective or even detrimental, sometimes slowing down work instead of improving efficiency. The time and resource investment required for upgrades don't feel rewarding.
- Tedious inventory management (weight 0.03): Inventory management is tedious due to limited stack sizes and backpack space. Players spend too much time juggling items between chests and cupboards.
- Lack of language support (weight 0.03): The game lacks support for multiple languages, including Spanish and German. This can be challenging for non-fluent English speakers.
- Minimal, uninspired story (weight 0.02): The game's story is minimal and fails to build suspense. The plot feels generic and lacks emotional payoff.
- Inconvenient sleep-to-save system (weight 0.02): The game only allows saving when the character sleeps, limiting save flexibility. This feels outdated and inconvenient to some players.

Gameplay feedback:
- Space-themed farming simulation (weight 0.18): The game blends farming sim elements with space exploration. Players manage a spaceship, grow crops, gather resources from planets, and build relationships with the crew. It's often compared to Stardew Valley in space, with planets replacing seasons and offering unique resources.
- Microbe-hunting replaces fishing (weight 0.04): The game replaces traditional fishing with a microbe-hunting minigame. This involves triangulation and a rhythm-based challenge. The minigame can be adjusted or turned off entirely for those who don't enjoy it.
- Planets as mines/seasons (weight 0.03): Planets function as mines, offering resources and combat encounters across multiple levels. Exploration is reminiscent of mine exploration in Stardew Valley. Planets also serve as seasonal replacements, offering different materials and crop seeds.
- Combat and resource gathering (weight 0.03): Combat is similar to Stardew Valley, but monsters can be more aggressive. The same laser gun is used for both fighting and mining, which drains energy. The game includes critter catching, such as microbes.
- Limited ship customization (weight 0.02): Ship customization is limited, with less freedom in room placement and crew management. The Captain performs most tasks despite having a large crew. Players can build friendships with crew members by giving gifts.
- Quest-driven gameplay (weight 0.02): The game is quest-based, with a main storyline that progresses through completing quests. Some players find the quest structure repetitive. The quests guide the adventure, making it accessible for new players.
- Randomized level progression (weight 0.02): Portals between levels are randomized, making it difficult to learn from failures. Exploration beacons appear infrequently, requiring players to clear a large portion of each map to progress. To advance to the next level, players must find a teleporter by digging or destroying rocks.
- Decoration and ship power (weight 0.02): The game allows decorating the house and area with furniture and decoration options. Crops are grown in planters inside the spaceship, requiring electricity. Electricity is supplied by placing solar panels on the ship's Outer Hull, which can be expanded as needed.
- Living spaceship town (weight 0.02): Crew members have their own lives on the ship, interacting with each other and working. The ship you inhabit functions as a small town. The town is a 7-floor spaceship with an elevator for easier navigation.
- Multiple income options (weight 0.01): Money is primarily earned from mission turn-ins. Farming is a viable income option, especially at a large scale. Players can choose different income routes instead of just farming.
- Collection and crafting (weight 0.01): The game involves befriending people, growing crops, completing the main storyline, and collecting microbes, artifacts, and gems for the museum. Players engage in crafting and microbe research.
