Info about RIFTSTORM:

Official game description:
**Welcome to the Mythic Protocol**
----------------------------------
The world has always been stranger than we were allowed to know.
Mythic entities, things that go bump in the night, and impossible doorways to a limitless universe of wonders - and threats - all exist, just beyond sight. Secret societies, hidden wars, and impossible technologies all bend to one mandate: contain the unknown before it consumes us.
You are a Weaver, an elite operative of the Mythic Protocol trained to close rifts, wield supernatural powers, deploy unique technologies, and survive encounters with entities that should not exist. Deploy alone or with up to two friends and take the fight into unstable mythic combat zones where every mission is another chance to bring something dangerous back alive — or make sure it never returns.
**Investigate, Contain, Exterminate**
-------------------------------------
The Protocol dictates the mission, you execute.
Investigate anomalous activity. Contain rift outbreaks. Exterminate mythic threats before they spiral beyond control.
Drop into hostile PvE missions, complete objectives, collect weapons and field upgrades, and decide how far your squad is willing to push before seeking extraction. Your deployment, your choice - but be warned: Rift Exposure Zones are not to be trifled with.
Rifts escalate, mythics swarm, and not everyone can make it out.
**Wield, Shape, and Unleash Yourself**
--------------------------------------
Weavers are no ordinary operatives.
Each Weaver brings their own abilities, combat identity, and role in the squad. Wield experimental weapons, manipulate rift energy, and harness in-mission Lythogram upgrades to reshape your builds and playstyles mid-mission.
Stack modifiers. Trigger synergies. Turn a clean loadout into something ridiculous by the end of a deployment. The possibilities are yours to explore, and unleash.
**Rift Exposure Zones**
-----------------------
Some areas are too corrupted to secure cleanly.
Rift Exposure Zones are high-risk areas filled with deadly corruption, unstable rewards, and even deadlier mythics. Push inside to chase better loot and bigger opportunities, or stay clear and keep your current haul safe.
The choice is up to you, and your squad: Go deeper for what might be waiting inside, or extract before the rift decides for you.
**Weapon Scarring System**
--------------------------
Every deployment will put at risk your favourite weapons.
If you fail to extract, not only will you lose everything you’ve found on mission, and the weapons you brought will not come back unscathed.
Scarred Weapons will replace one of its weapon mods with a random negative mod. These weapons remain usable, but scarred.
**Not Your Average Extraction Game**
------------------------------------
RIFTSTORM is not about hardcore tactics, gear fear, or punishing players for wanting to have fun.
This is power-fantasy forward looter-shooter, with the freedom to extract. Become a Weaver. Kill monsters. Build momentum. Push your luck. Extract with your rewards — or come back scarred, rebuild, and go again.
Disclaimer: RIFTSTORM is an always online multiplayer game and will require a live internet connection to play.

Common complaints:
- Severe performance and optimization issues (weight 0.61): Many reviews report severe performance problems, including unplayable stuttering, crashes, black screens, frame rate drops to single digits during heavy enemy spawns or after map transitions, and issues persisting from the demo. These issues render the game unplayable for numerous players.
- Poor graphics and animations (weight 0.39): Multiple reviews criticize the game's visual presentation, including rough model quality, outdated graphics, low-effort modeling compared to the demo, stiff character animations, and cluttered or poor art style. This broadly affects first impressions and overall polish.
- Online-only requirement heavily criticized (weight 0.34): The always-online requirement is widely criticized, especially the lack of proper disclosure on system requirements and the need for an accelerator to avoid packet loss. Even in single-player, lag or disconnections cause progress loss, and many players dislike the online-only model for a service game.
- Persistent network and latency problems (weight 0.34): Players report low FPS in lobbies and missions, high latency without VPN, disconnections at settlements, desync in co-op, and disconnects during mission entry requiring restarts. Network problems are pervasive, affecting both solo and multiplayer experiences.
- Forced online connection is resented (weight 0.34): The online requirement forces an internet connection and often requires an accelerator, which many players deem foolish for a long-term service game. Even in solo, disconnections cause lag and sticky movement, leading to frustration.
- Accelerator or VPN needed for play (weight 0.33): Players report that without a VPN or accelerator, there is severe latency and high ping leading to disconnections. This makes the game nearly unplayable in regions with less optimal connections, and the need for accelerators is not clearly communicated.
- Disconnects cause progress loss (weight 0.27): Disconnections frequently result in loss of progress, weapons, and items, with no rejoin option. This compounds the frustration of network issues, making failures feel punishing and unfair.
- Excessive grinding and progression walls (weight 0.26): The progression system is heavily grind-based, requiring many materials for skill upgrades and hero maxing, with limited-time missions demanding materials not always available. Players find the grind excessive and time-consuming.
- Gloves combat feedback and weight (weight 0.25): Combat feedback is lacking: shooting has no weight or impact, active skills have poor feel and effects, and controls generally lack responsiveness. This makes gameplay feel unsatisfying and unengaging.
- Co-op and loot issues (weight 0.23): Co-op is negatively affected by per-player kill counts and contested pickups, while loot disappears quickly, has a small pickup range, and has animation delays. Failure penalties also damage carried items, making co-op feel unrewarding.
- Slow load times and limited options (weight 0.2): The starter character is generic and takes an hour to unlock others, custom keybinding is limited, game launch and map loads are slow (60 seconds and 20-30 seconds respectively), and there are too many loading screens. This slows down gameplay and reduces user control.
- Broken and shallow mission design (weight 0.19): Several missions are half-baked or broken: in the tutorial, enemies don't attack objectives and there's no way to lose, while extraction is just waiting at the map edge, and missions are repetitive. This points to shallow or buggy mission design.
- Rushed and flawed game design (weight 0.18): The game feels rushed and too early for early access, with a core design that is flawed and disappointing, failing to clearly fit as either a rogue-like or extraction shooter. This undermines the overall experience.
- Camera, movement, and stuck issues (weight 0.18): The camera drifts and gets wonky during fights, characters can get stuck mid-mission, and movement causes screen tearing that makes the game unplayable, even causing missions to be marked as failed.
- Weak and unclear story presentation (weight 0.17): The story is delivered through basic slideshow images and lacks narrative context, being unclear and confusing, with some character dialogue hard to follow. This weakens immersion and motivation.
- Poor weapon design and usability (weight 0.17): Many weapons feel bad due to absurd reload times, low magazine counts, unrealistic sniper performance in mob-heavy combat, and lack of displayed weapon range, making combat frustrating and unintuitive.
- Quality-of-life and UI gaps (weight 0.15): There are QoL issues such as a typo in the subtitles, no health/shield numbers, useless tooltips missing crucial info, and missing weapon range displays. These small issues accumulate and detract from the experience.
- Low content variety in enemies and maps (weight 0.14): The game suffers from low enemy variety, numerous identical obstacles and explosives, and maps that are narrow, long, and lacking in variety or interactibles. This reduces long-term engagement and makes environments feel repetitive.
- Launch and entry difficulties (weight 0.11): Some players face difficulty launching the game, requiring deletion of the demo and restarting Steam with the accelerator, or encountering a severe bug preventing launch altogether. This creates a barrier to entry.
- Concerns about pay-to-win future (weight 0.1): The blockchain aspects and announced wipes suggest potential pay-to-win elements and uncertainty about long-term progression, worrying players about the game's future direction.

Gameplay feedback:
- Loot-based gameplay loop (weight 0.37): The game is described as a loot-em-up with heavy loot drops, rarity tiers, and a looter shooter core. Loot acquisition is central to the experience.
- Roguelike elements present (weight 0.36): The game incorporates roguelike or roguelite mechanics, such as runs, perks, and procedural elements. It is often described as a twin-stick shooter with these features.
- Co-op multiplayer supported (weight 0.3): The game offers online cooperative play, including missions and lobbies. Co-op mode is a core feature emphasized by multiple players.
- Skill trees and builds (weight 0.22): Characters have skill trees and distinct builds, allowing for varied playstyles. Different characters or Weavers offer unique progression paths.
- Variety of weapons (weight 0.18): The game features multiple weapon types, including assault rifles and sniper rifles with charge mechanics. Gun crafting and combos add depth to combat.
- Mission structure and objectives (weight 0.17): Missions involve activating a device and holding until it is finished, with a lobby before entering. A first chapter serves as a tutorial.
- Dynamic combat effects (weight 0.15): Effects and power-ups are gained during combat, making runs chaotic and engaging. Aim assist is available for accessibility.
- Requires online connection (weight 0.15): The game is fully online and requires an always-online connection. This is a significant requirement noted by players.
- Extraction mechanics (weight 0.15): The game includes extraction shooter elements, such as meeting conditions and waiting at the map edge to extract. Dying has consequences, including equipment penalties.
- Co-op rewards and sharing (weight 0.14): In co-op, kills are counted separately but pickups are shared, promoting teamwork. Teamwork is essential to survive.
- Challenge and difficulty (weight 0.13): The game features hardcore boss fights and multiple difficulty levels, catering to players seeking a challenge. Failure results in equipment penalties and damaged items.
- Twin-stick shooter perspective (weight 0.11): The game is played from a top-down or quarter view, functioning as a twin-stick shooter with bullet hell elements. This perspective is noted by players.
- Strategic team building (weight 0.1): The game requires strategic combination of heroes, equipment, and skills. Builds are selected in runs and are subject to out-of-game progression.
- Long run duration (weight 0.1): A single run lasts about half an hour, and there is a long run mode. This length may affect player engagement.
- In-game currency and pickups (weight 0.1): Seeds serve as stage currency with a narrow pick-up radius. Health towers and health orbs provide healing options during missions.
- Exploration and gathering (weight 0.09): The game includes exploration and material gathering, adding an adventure aspect to the looter shooter formula.
- Character progression (weight 0.09): Weavers can be upgraded, and characters have skill trees. However, characters are gender-locked with no class system.
- Online-only with no rejoin (weight 0.06): The game is online-only and does not offer a rejoin option. This can be problematic for players with unstable connections.
- Multiplayer unlocks later (weight 0.05): Co-op multiplayer unlocks after several missions, which may be a barrier for players expecting immediate co-op access.
- Co-op without PvP (weight 0.05): The game offers cooperative play without any PvP elements, focusing purely on PvE teamwork.

Performance notes:
- Poor optimization with frame drops (weight 0.48): Players consistently report severe frame drops and stuttering in both the lobby and missions, indicating widespread optimization problems. The issues occur even on high-end hardware, such as an RTX 4090, and remain in the full version.
- Post-tutorial FPS lock fix (weight 0.39): After completing the tutorial, many players experience a hard lock to 10 FPS with low GPU usage (around 15%). This can be resolved by setting the thread count to 2, though some report that the fix is only temporary.
- High-end hardware still lags (weight 0.19): Even on top-tier graphics cards like the RTX 4090, the game runs with severe lag and single-digit FPS, indicating that the issue is not user hardware but the game's optimization. This suggests the game requires impractical hardware for acceptable performance.
- Crashes and black screens (weight 0.11): Players report crashes leading to black screens, particularly after long sessions, which are attributed to poor optimization. This severely impacts gameplay and suggests stability issues beyond mere performance.
- Connection issues and disconnects (weight 0.11): Players experience disconnects without the ability to rejoin, as well as severe delays that only improve with a VPN. This points to network code problems and server instability, frustrating online play.
- Slow load times (weight 0.1): The game takes about 60 seconds to launch and 20-30 seconds to transition between maps, which is excessive and disrupts the pacing. Loading delays add to the overall sense of poor technical polish.
- Unstable FPS on lowest settings (weight 0.1): Even when graphics are set to the lowest settings, the FPS remains unstable, indicating that the frame rate issues are not related to graphical fidelity. This implies deeper engine-level problems.
- Frame drops during monster spawns (weight 0.06): Encountering large monster spawns causes frame rate to plummet to 8-10 FPS, making combat nearly unplayable. This specific in-game event triggers the worst performance peaks, likely due to poor asset management.
- Thread count workaround not universal (weight 0.06): While setting the thread count to 2 fixes lag for some, others still experience major freezes and FPS drops after applying the same fix. This inconsistency suggests that the workaround addresses only part of the optimization problem.
- Screen tearing during movement (weight 0.05): Players notice screen tearing when the character moves, which is a display synchronization issue. This is a visual artifact that detracts from immersion and often accompanies performance problems.
- Steam Deck demo performance (weight 0.05): One player reported that the demo ran well on Steam Deck, in contrast to desktop complaints. This suggests that the game may be better optimized for the Deck's fixed hardware, but it is an isolated positive data point.

Intense action, fast-paced combat, and engaging missions like Operation Broken Spire create excitement, as does the variety of weapons that players want to try.
- Anger (weight 0.05): Players are angry about the hidden always-online requirement that is not disclosed on the system requirements page, leading to disconnects and progress loss. Mission failures caused by movement issues result in lost weapons, and the game's unplayable state after long development, along with insulting popups about hardware, further enrage players.
- Enjoyment (weight 0.05): Players enjoy the game because of its appealing art style, interesting backstory, and worldbuilding, as well as enjoyable builds and progression. Playing with friends and the overall fun co-op experience are highlights, making the game a positive experience so far.
