About the Game
==============
King’s Bounty: Warriors of the North is a standalone entry in the King’s Bounty series and a narrative follow-up set in the same world as King’s Bounty: The Legend. A generation has passed since the events of the original adventure, but peace in Endoria has proven fragile.
From the frozen northern lands, a new threat rises. An undead army spreads across the region, pushing ever closer to the heart of the kingdom. You play as Olaf, a Viking warrior and the youngest son of Tormund the Fierce, tasked with defending his homeland and stopping the advance of the dead.
What begins as a local conflict soon turns into a full-scale campaign across the northern reaches of Endoria. You must liberate the land of Nordig, travel between icy islands, ancient strongholds, and war-torn territories, and carefully prepare your army for increasingly dangerous encounters.
Exploration takes place in real time across a large hand-crafted world, while battles unfold in deep, turn-based tactical combat. Positioning, morale, unit synergy, and preparation are critical, as enemies grow stronger and mistakes become harder to recover from.
Warriors of the North expands the tactical core of the series with Rune Magic, a new system that allows units to expend runes for powerful temporary bonuses in battle. These effects can turn the tide of combat when used at the right moment, adding a new layer of strategic decision-making.
Olaf is not alone in his campaign. He is aided by five Valkyries, powerful companions who grant unique bonuses and abilities. Choosing how to rely on their strengths becomes an important part of long-term strategy, both on the battlefield and throughout progression.
The northern setting introduces new Viking-inspired units such as Berserkers and Skalds, enhanced Rage mechanics, and a campaign built around constant escalation. With its darker tone, expanded systems, and distinct identity, King’s Bounty: Warriors of the North delivers a deeper and more demanding tactical experience that builds on the legacy of The Legend while offering a fresh strategic focus.

Feature scans:
- Steam Deck: score 80; verdict: Broken - Frequent crashes and instability; summary: The Steam Deck feedback is dominated by severe stability problems: crashes occur hourly or after battles, mid-to-late game becomes unstable, and specific Crossworlds mini-campaigns or Loki ability usage can crash or fail to launch. Reviewers also report small fonts, interface complexity, and a camera-spin issue when using Steam Deck system buttons. Positive notes acknowledge working controls and near-perfect playability in some campaigns, but the frequent crashes and progress-loss risk place the experience in the broken range.

- Hardware Profile:
  - Summary: Across the Windows <8GB VRAM cohort, player feedback is predominantly positive, with the game described as running well enough to recommend despite some caveats. Isolated comments mention compatibility crashes, inconvenient saves, and a desire for further optimization.
  - Sample size: 24 (9% coverage)
  - Audience skew: Review sample is mostly Windows-based.
  - Windows <8GB VRAM (positive, 10 reports): Players generally report the game works well and recommend it, though some mention compatibility crashes, save inconvenience, and a need for optimization.
  - Caveats: 24 of 265 reviews expose hardware metadata.; Review sample is mostly Windows-based.
Feature extractions:
- Community Price:
  - Community fair range: $9.99 - $19.99
  - Reasoning: Positive reviews describe the game as worth the price and a superb value, supporting a fair price above the deepest discount tier. However, one reviewer criticizes repeated full-price payments for expansion-like standalone entries, and another bought it only on sale, suggesting the community is reluctant to treat it as a premium full-price release. For an older King's Bounty-style title, this points to a fair base-game range of roughly $10 to $20.
- Playtime Metrics:
  - Game completion: 232.0h
  - Story completion: 50.0h
  - Session length: N/A
  - Endgame: 50.0h
  - Reasoning: The Russian report gives 232 hours for all quests completed, and the German report gives 250 hours for exhaustive exploration; these support a full-completion estimate around 232-250 hours, so gameCompletion is set to 232. The Japanese report estimates 40-50 hours for normal play, supporting a storyCompletion value near 50 hours. The Chinese report places the unstable late/endgame phase after about 50 hours, so endgame is set to 50. No quote reports a normal uninterrupted play-session length, so sessionLength is null.
