Info about Blood Spear:

Official game description:

Blood Spear is a student game which won the first prize of the jury at ISART Digital Montréal in 2021.
Featuring action ranged gameplay, you play as the Blood Spear, a cursed weapon with demonic powers who is able to possess the body of dead ghosts.
This grants you many abilities, like a powerful throw, a way to cheat death, and the power to absorb the blood of your enemies in order to heal yourself. There is much more to discover as you progress through epic environments and engage in bloodshed during clashes against powerful foes.
**IMPALE YOUR ENEMIES**
The core mechanic involves aiming your spear at enemies and impaling them against the environment. Throw with precision, use your demonic powers to charge your spears, shatter planted spears to release even more power, and nourish from the blood of dead enemies to heal.
**EXPLORE EPIC ENVIRONMENTS**
What you seek resides within a forgotten shrine above the clouds. Progress through grandiose environments in a medieval dark fantasy atmosphere and explore a world plagued by corruption.
**FIGHT AGAINST THE CORRUPTION**
A strange cult inhabits the sanctuary and carries out occult rituals. They seem to be controlled by a superior entity and feed off the corruption of the place. Whatever their goals are, they don't want to be disturbed.

- Hardware Profile: No data
Feature extractions:
- Community Price:
  - Community fair range: $0.00
  - Reasoning: The only price-relevant sentiment frames the game's value around being free. Reviewers tolerate its performance and gameplay issues specifically because it is a freebie, and one reviewer says it is worth playing only because it is free. Another reviewer focuses on free, cheap, or discounted games, which supports a very low or zero fair price rather than a standard paid base-game price. Since no reviewer justifies paying for it, the community fair base-game range is best estimated at $0.
- Playtime Metrics:
  - Game completion: 0.8h
  - Story completion: N/A
  - Session length: 0.8h
  - Endgame: N/A
  - Reasoning: The completion-time quotes cluster around roughly 30-60 minutes, with an explicit ~45-minute report and a statement that the game is about an hour long, so gameCompletion is set to about 0.75 hours. The 30-60 minute framing also indicates the title is typically played in one short sitting, supporting sessionLength of about 0.75 hours. A separate story-only completion time is not reported; reviews emphasize the game is short and gameplay-focused, so storyCompletion is null. The statement that it has no side content supports an endgame value of 0 hours.
- Time-to-fun:
  - Summary: The strongest direct timing report says the game hooks players immediately and stays engaging, while other reviews report repetitive, unfinished combat and no Souls-like challenge. The profile is therefore fun immediately for some, with negative reports treated as friction rather than evidence of a later unlock.

Common complaints:
- Extremely Short Game Length (weight 0.48): Players consistently report the game can be completed in roughly 20-30 minutes, making it feel far too brief. Many describe it as incredibly short with only about half an hour of gameplay.
- Too Easy and Unchallenging (weight 0.24): The game is frequently described as very easy, with players dying at most once and boss fights being trivial. This lack of difficulty reduces satisfaction for many.
- Janky Animations and Rough Feel (weight 0.21): Reviewers point out janky character animations and an overall rough, unpolished feel. The game is described as rough around the edges.
- Feels Like a Demo (weight 0.2): Multiple reviewers state the experience resembles a demo rather than a full game, with no full release available. The short duration and limited content reinforce this impression.
- Repetitive Enemies and Locations (weight 0.16): Players note that enemy variety is very limited, with the same enemies appearing repeatedly. Some also mention monotonous locations, reducing engagement.
- Limited Gameplay Depth (weight 0.15): The gameplay is considered far too simplistic for anything beyond a 30-minute experience, with many lacking aspects. It feels very limited overall.
- Lacks Close Combat Options (weight 0.14): Players note the absence of close combat mechanics, such as the inability to stab or thrust with a spear. This limits combat variety.
- Weak Story Exploration (weight 0.08): The story is barely explored and does not explain much, leaving players with little narrative context. This contributes to the feeling of an incomplete experience.
- Not a Soulslike Innovation (weight 0.08): Some reviewers feel the game does not break new ground in the soulslike genre and may not even qualify as a souls-like experience. It lacks the depth expected from the genre.

Gameplay feedback:
- Spear-based ranged combat (weight 0.71): Combat revolves entirely around throwing spears as the primary and often only attack method. Spears can be charged for increased range and damage, and players dash to dodge attacks. No melee options exist, making the experience purely ranged.

- Living spear protagonist (weight 0.49): Players control a sentient demonic spear that possesses knight corpses to fight. The spear feeds on blood from enemies or the player to sustain itself, tying into both combat and healing systems.

- Spear throwing and stacking (weight 0.29): Multiple spears can be thrown and stacked into tougher enemies, then detonated or pulled out for burst damage. Spears can also shatter, break shields, and pin enemies against walls. This adds a layer of tactical depth to the ranged combat.
- Blood absorption healing (weight 0.28): Health is restored by absorbing blood from defeated enemies, often with a single button press even at a distance. This mechanic is central to survival since health constantly drains over time.
- Simple and accessible controls (weight 0.2): The controls are straightforward and not complex, making the game easy to pick up. Mechanics are fun and easy to learn, though some may find the gameplay simplistic.
- Short souls-like atmosphere (weight 0.2): The game captures a Dark Souls-like atmosphere and visual style despite its short length. It feels like a demo for a triple-A souls-like, with an art style reminiscent of Demon's Souls or Dark Souls.
- One-hit enemy kills (weight 0.15): Most enemies, except for the sole boss, can be defeated with a single hit. This makes combat fast and emphasizes the power of the spear, though it may reduce challenge for some players.
- Instant respawn on death (weight 0.12): Upon death, players instantly respawn at a checkpoint with no loss of progress, or choose a new body to continue. This forgiving death system reduces frustration and keeps the focus on combat.
