Info about Every Day We Fight:

Official game description:
Citizens from either side of an ongoing war must set aside their differences as a mysterious alien invasion threatens humanity – time has come to a stop for all but your small band of freedom fighters. Caught in a seemingly endless loop, you must shape these ordinary civilians into heroes as they repeatedly fight and die in this turn-based tactical roguelite. Real-time exploration, stealth, and teamwork are essential as you acquire new skills, seek out more powerful weapons, escape the time loop, and save the world. Welcome to the resistance!
Countless lives hang in the balance, frozen in time as the alien Rifters seek to harvest the world’s resources. Your group of three have somehow escaped that curse, only to suffer something worse – every time they die, time resets. Or so it seems.
* Take on a variety of mission types to thwart the alien invaders – shut down their harvesters, defuse their bombs, and take out their occupying troops to gain the skills you need and secure victory. Will you attempt secondary objectives to save other civilians at the risk of losing your progress? Or will you sacrifice the lives of those frozen in time in the interest of advancing towards your ultimate goal? With every new time loop, newly acquired experience and skills remain, and with every death, your band of civilians turn into hardened war veterans.
* Explore the multiple districts of your wartorn city, seeking out weapons stashes and uncovering hidden equipment that will better prepare you for what comes next. Anything you discover in one loop is available to you from the start of the next, fundamentally changing your approach. Use more advanced weapons, modifications, and gear to defeat the enemy more handily, in turn gaining access to even more powerful tools of the trade.
* Take on the Rifter leaders in challenging boss battles that place your fighters on the back foot. Harder to kill, heavily armored, and dangerously armed, these leaders hold the key to this war – every time one falls, the time loop shifts forward, bringing the forever war closer to an end.
War is unforgiving and relentless, and every opportunity must be taken to secure the upper hand. Your tactical prowess will be put to the test when the bullets start to fly – armed and positioned appropriately, allies can work closely together to assist one another, interrupt enemy movements, and bring about a quick end to challenging circumstances.
* Study the enemy you’re facing, sneak around the battlefield to obtain an optimal position, and seek out any opportunities to use the world around you to your advantage.
* Take direct control of every shot as you aim down the sights, find where your target is weakest, and unleash a hail of bullets. Hit chances are determined entirely by your positioning, your aim, and your reaction time, with ballistics taking firing angles and obstructions into account as your targets run and duck for cover. Will you trust your aim with a sniper rifle, spray and pray with a submachine gun, or get up close and personal with a trusty shotgun?
* The action never stops as your resistance fighters can react to both friend and foe across turns on either side, beyond their usual action point limits. Every individual has access to unique reflex actions to intercept enemy movement and assist allied kills, or to scramble away from enemy fire. Will you reserve your reflexes for defensive maneuvers when things take a turn for the worse, or will you use them to apply constant pressure on the enemy?
The arrival of the Rifters brought the world to a standstill, but life goes on for your fighters. Uncover their checkered pasts as they learn to work together. Unveil the mystery of the alien invaders and their control over time as you fight through the streets of a once-beautiful city to reveal the full truth about the war. Your resistance grows stronger with each success, and with each failure – after all, death is only the beginning.

- Adaptable Controls & UI (weight 0.07): While some controls and UI elements are initially clunky, reviewers note they are not game-breaking and can be adapted to, with tutorials being clear and sufficient.
- Meaningful Character Progression (weight 0.06): Character progression and perks are well-implemented, making each character feel distinct and offering synergistic abilities that enhance gameplay.
- Refreshing Gridless Movement (weight 0.06): The gridless movement system is appreciated for its refreshing approach, encouraging more strategic thinking beyond simple cover-seeking.
- Loot & Combat Concept (weight 0.05): The concept of attacking and looting in free roam is considered a great addition, contributing positively to the overall combat system.

Common complaints:
- Frustrating Roguelike Elements (weight 0.41): The roguelike elements, combined with infrequent autosaves and no manual save option, lead to frustrating progress loss. Players are forced to replay tedious content, including puzzles and exploration, after dying or encountering bugs.
- Extensive Bugs & Glitches (weight 0.32): The game suffers from numerous bugs across various aspects, including combat controls, UI, and general stability. Many players feel the game was rushed and needs significant refinement and bug fixes.
- Clunky UI & Controls (weight 0.22): The user interface is often described as poorly designed and clunky, making menus impractical. Additionally, controls, including keybindings for movement and actions, are frequently reported as counter-intuitive and uncomfortable.
- Unbalanced Difficulty Curve (weight 0.2): The game's difficulty is poorly balanced, often being too brutal in the early game with enemies capable of one-shotting players. This steep and inconsistent difficulty curve makes progression challenging and frustrating.
- Overpowered Grenadier Enemies (weight 0.13): Armored grenadier enemies are consistently highlighted as overpowered due to their high armor, agile movement, and one-shot kill grenades. Their armor mechanics are also criticized for being too strong and making shotguns ineffective.
- Ineffective Tactical Options (weight 0.12): Tactical options, such as smoke grenades, are often ineffective or behave inconsistently, with enemies shooting through them. This limits strategic gameplay and makes early-game encounters against armored enemies particularly difficult.
- Problematic Overwatch System (weight 0.11): The overwatch system is problematic, with characters accidentally backing out or peeking from the wrong side of cover. Additionally, overwatch attacks consume reaction actions, preventing characters from moving when hit, which often leads to premature death.
- Disjointed Game Mechanics (weight 0.09): The combination of roguelite and puzzle elements feels disjointed and tedious, making the game feel more like a puzzle game than a strategy game. The lack of point-and-click movement also feels counter-intuitive for the genre.
- Limited Weapon Customization (weight 0.06): The game lacks variety in weapon modification modules, and players are forced to repeatedly start with the same limited set of weapons and mods. This makes redoing character gear and weapon customization feel monotonous and unrewarding.
- Lackluster Progression System (weight 0.06): The progression and development systems are described as almost non-existent and monotonous. Players feel there is a lack of meaningful character or base development, making the long-term gameplay loop less engaging.
- Slow Movement Speed (weight 0.06): Movement speed in exploration mode is too slow, even when running, making traversing the large but often empty maps tedious. The map size is disproportionate to the per-turn movement ability, leading to long, unengaging walks.
- Overpowered Worker Character (weight 0.06): The worker character's reaction punch is overpowered, capable of knocking down almost any enemy with one hit. This exploit, combined with smoke grenades, can trivialize indoor combat and significantly reduce the game's difficulty.

Gameplay feedback:
- Manual Aiming Combat (weight 0.34): The core combat system combines turn-based strategy with real-time first-person aiming. Players manually aim and fire, often in slow motion, and enemies react to hits by moving, requiring precise targeting.
- Tactical Reaction System (weight 0.18): The game features a 'reaction action' system, allowing units one special move per turn, such as scrambling to new cover or using unique abilities, which adds a layer of tactical depth to enemy turns.
- Exploration and Map Design (weight 0.14): The game features exploration of combat maps and a large city map, allowing players to find items, landmarks for EXP, and currency. This open-world exploration influences mission preparation and progression.
- Character Skill Progression (weight 0.13): Players control a team of three characters, each with distinct skills and three talent trees for progression. This allows for diverse team compositions and strategic development.
- Scrap Resource System (weight 0.09): Scrap is a key resource obtained through exploration and enemy drops, used for crafting items and upgrades. Upon defeat, scrap is retained, facilitating progression across runs.
- Roguelite Turn-Based Strategy (weight 0.08): The game is a roguelite with turn-based strategy elements, drawing comparisons to XCOM, Valkyria Chronicles, and Phoenix Point. Units utilize an Action Point (AP) system for their actions.
- Tactical Positioning Importance (weight 0.07): Success in combat requires careful tactical positioning and knowing when to use abilities like 'scramble' to avoid overextending and maintain advantageous angles.
- Randomized Starting Gear (weight 0.05): Each run starts with a random selection of guns and items. Equipment and upgrades, once obtained, can randomly spawn at the beginning of subsequent runs.
- Challenging Mission Structure (weight 0.05): Specific missions can be challenging, requiring players to complete multiple objectives without dying, as death results in restarting both objectives.
- Skill-Based Combat (weight 0.05): The game minimizes the influence of dice rolls, making player skill and weapon spread the primary determinants of combat outcomes, rather than random chance.
- Deliberate Combat Pace (weight 0.03): Battles in the game are not quick, suggesting a more deliberate and strategic pace of combat encounters.
- Numerous Enemy Waves (weight 0.03): Enemies are numerous and often appear in waves, indicating a focus on managing multiple threats during combat.
- Sniper Armor Removal (weight 0.03): Snipers have a specific mechanic where they remove armor from a single body part per shot, suggesting a tactical approach to targeting armored enemies.
- Chapter-Based Progression (weight 0.03): Completing a chapter's main story battles initiates a 'new beginning,' implying a cyclical or chapter-based progression structure.
- Full Enemy AP on Entry (weight 0.03): Enemies enter combat with full action points, which means they can immediately act upon appearing, requiring players to be prepared for immediate threats.
- Attack Power Not Level-Based (weight 0.03): Attack power is not directly tied to character level, suggesting that other factors like equipment, skills, or player aim are more significant for damage output.
- Environmental Destructibility (weight 0.03): Explosives can destroy hidden enemies and environmental objects like cars, indicating environmental destructibility and tactical use of explosives.
