Info about Patrick's Parabox:

Official game description:
Patrick's Parabox is an award-winning puzzle game that explores a unique recursive system of boxes within boxes within boxes within boxes. Learn to manipulate the world's structure by pushing boxes into and out of each other. Wrap your head around what happens when a box contains itself, and learn to use infinity to your advantage. Explore many more mechanics and recursive twists as you delve deeper and deeper into the system. It's boxes all the way down.
The game has over 350 hand-crafted puzzles, which are designed to make you think, but also to guide you and showcase the beauty of the system. Each puzzle contains a new idea; there is no filler.
A soothing, inquisitive soundtrack and sound design by Priscilla Snow reflects new mechanics as they are introduced.
Patrick's Parabox won the Excellence in Design award in the Independent Games Festival 2020. The game was also an IndieCade 2019 festival selection and received the IndieCade Developers Choice award.

Feature scans:
- Wiki: score 50; verdict: Tier 3: The Student (Instructional Data); summary: The reviews focus on a puzzle game where most levels are solvable without external help, but users frequently mention turning to walkthroughs for difficult puzzles or full completion. This is an instructional-data dependency, mapped to Tier 3: The Student, rather than farming, inventory management, or navigation/bugs. Positive feedback also highlights intuitive mechanics and accessible difficulty.
- Steam Deck: score 70; verdict: Broken on Steam Deck: unreliable input and features plus crashes; summary: The game itself is well received for its soundtrack, controls, art, humor, and puzzle design, with only isolated reports of stuttering and heat in a few scenes. However, the Steam Deck experience is unreliable: a reviewer reports that controls are not recognized roughly half the time, the zoom-in feature does not function, and audio volume is randomized on each launch. A separate report notes repeated unexplained crashes. Core input and feature failures on the Deck push the experience into the broken band despite the game's intrinsic quality.

- Hardware Profile:
  - Summary: The two Windows hardware cohorts generally report positive performance and recommend the game, with isolated reports of crashes and high CPU temperatures as caveats.
  - Sample size: 28 (2% coverage)
  - Audience skew: Review sample is mostly Windows-based.
  - Windows 16GB+ VRAM (positive, 7 reports): The game is recommended on high-VRAM Windows systems, though one user reported repeated crashes that may affect the experience.
  - Windows 8-11GB VRAM (positive, 6 reports): The game is recommended in this VRAM range, with late-game performance described positively, but one user reported very high CPU temperatures.
  - Caveats: 28 of 1168 reviews expose hardware metadata.; Review sample is mostly Windows-based.
Feature extractions:
- Community Price:
  - Community fair range: $9.99 - $14.99
  - Reasoning: The reviews consistently praise the puzzle design but treat the $20 full price as too high for a comparatively short, pure puzzle game. Multiple reviewers recommend waiting for a sale, and one says a half-price purchase delivered ten hours of satisfying puzzles, which makes the $10 range feel fair. Another explicitly calls $20 'way too much.' Taken together, the community fair base price is below $20 and clusters around $10–$15, with $10 as the comfortable half-price/sale anchor and $15 as the upper bound for full-price acceptance.
- Playtime Metrics:
  - Game completion: 20.0h
  - Story completion: 18.0h
  - Session length: 2.0h
  - Endgame: 5.0h
  - Reasoning: The full-completion evidence includes an all-clear report at 20 hours, so gameCompletion is set to 20 hours. Main-story-only evidence includes 18 hours to barely clear the main story, so storyCompletion is set to 18 hours. Session length is supported by the report that one or two hours of intense puzzle solving leaves the player mentally exhausted, indicating roughly 2-hour sessions. Endgame time is supported by the report that a 17-level extra/challenge pack took 5 hours, including over 2 hours on the final puzzle, so endgame is set to 5 hours. Confidence is moderate because player skill and optional-content choices create wide playtime variance.
- Time-to-fun:
  - Summary: Most players report Patrick's Parabox is fun and addictive from the start, with a gentle learning curve and clever simple puzzles; later challenge levels deepen the experience for difficulty-seekers. A minority frame the main campaign as a tutorial and say the real challenge or best puzzles arrive after it, but this is a difficulty progression rather than a delayed fun onset.
  - Stance: Fun immediately
  - Anchor: N/A
  - Time to anchor: N/A
  - Friction: Early levels can feel like very easy tutorial-esque puzzles.; Redundant tutorial puzzles and puzzles too similar to the one just solved.; The box-inside-box gimmick can wear off after a couple of levels.; Slow animations can cause missed clicks when playing quickly.; Completely streamlined and categorized world progression may reduce discovery.; Veteran puzzlers may find the learning curve too shallow.
  - Unlock drivers: Challenge levels after the main campaign are described as where the real game begins.; Late-game puzzles after technically beating the game are reported as pretty good.; Optional extra puzzles and side tracks offer challenge for players who want it.; New mechanics and twists are introduced stage by stage, preventing boredom.; Later levels combine previously learned mechanics into deeper interactions.
  - Conditions: Enjoyment is immediate for players who appreciate a gentle, clean learning curve.; Players seeking very hard puzzle difficulty may prefer the later challenge content.; Challenge-focused players report the real game begins in the challenge levels after the main campaign.; Players who dislike Sokoban-style pushing puzzles may not enjoy it.; Tolerance for tutorial-style repetition affects early enjoyment.; Interest in math and infinity mechanics can deepen later enjoyment.; Preference for story or non-linear progression may affect enjoyment.; Some players find the total content short after the tutorial challenges.

- Disappointment (weight 0.02): Disappointment stems from the game feeling too easy for some players, with a shallow learning curve and hand-holding through many levels. The lack of a satisfying difficulty curve and in-between difficulty, along with the game ending quickly with not enough extra content, leaves players wanting more. The absence of Steam Workshop support and an in-game level creator also contributes.
- Surprise (weight 0.02): Surprise is caused by the diverse gimmicks emerging one after another, the map-within-a-map gimmick refreshing the Sokoban formula, and the game revealing deep puzzle design despite a light intro. Accidentally entering infinite space and deriving Russell's paradox, and managing to finish levels thought impossible, create surprising moments.

- Interest (weight 0.01): Interest is sparked by the game's unusual puzzle mechanics with new twists each stage, the appropriately increasing difficulty, and the innovative box mechanic leading to nesting, looping, and scaling concepts. Each level having a different solution method and clever touches in the box-pushing puzzles keep the player engaged. The game's unique puzzle mechanics and logic challenges capture attention.
- Confusion (weight 0.01): Confusion arises from the possession mechanic being difficult to understand, the recursive interaction logic between mixed mechanics, and nested structures, multiple infinities, and epsilon mechanics. Carrying boxes within boxes and entering boxes can get quite confusing at times, leading to a state of not understanding before sudden realization.
- Enthusiasm (weight 0.01): Enthusiasm is fueled by the box-pushing and nested entering/exiting mechanics, the clever puzzle game with excellent level progression, and the complex yet minimalist puzzles with well-paced progression. The innovative puzzle gameplay, strong level design, and abundant exploration of mechanics make the game extremely fun and creative. The very good puzzle-solving process and big imagination of the creator inspire enthusiasm.
- Mental strain (weight 0.01): Mental strain is caused by solving paradox-based puzzles described as a cerebral challenge, the brain-taxing puzzle solving, and levels involving recursion and infinity. Brain-burning puzzles that test understanding of infinity make players feel like brain cells are insufficient. The intense cognitive effort required leads to mental strain.
- Relief (weight 0.01): Relief comes from the main story not being difficult and only requiring partial completion, so players don't feel stupid. The absence of a step limit on puzzles and the discovery that the difficulty was not too high during play provide a sense of relief. The game's forgiving design allows players to progress without excessive pressure.
- Accomplishment (weight 0.01): Accomplishment is felt from being able to fully complete the main levels, successfully solving puzzles, and achievements that praise the player for clearing each level. Completing all 364 levels, solving the brain-burning later levels, and stages structured for growth with few stuck parts give a strong sense of achievement.}
