Info about The Monster Breeder:

Official game description:
You are in charge of one of the Empire's monster-breeding houses. Your role is to create hybrids intended to bring wealth and fame to their owner through combat in the arena. You have access to a wide array of magical artifacts and potions to transform newborn creatures into formidable fighting beasts. Adult monsters gain experience in the arena, developing inherited abilities or learning new ones.
All mammal, reptile, and insect species found within the Empire possess at least one valuable trait. You can launch expeditions in search of new species, though these come with significant risk and financial cost. Crossbred offspring inherit their parents’ physical characteristics and special abilities at random. Their valuable traits can be enhanced with special feed, potions, blood infusions, rune stones, magic scrolls and organ implantation. However, excessive intervention can lead to abomination illness, reducing the creature’s lifespan and rendering it temporarily unfit for combat.
Combat in the arena is not always to the death. Non-lethal fights, of course, also pay less. You can hire warriors, archers, and mages to fight alongside your monsters. Each arena is unique and provides certain advantages and disadvantages that must be taken into account. Specialization and the right equipment offer a significant edge in combat.
You can hire a blacksmith or an alchemist, so you're not limited to the offerings of local merchants and annual fairs. You can expand your base by constructing new buildings or upgrading existing ones. If you run into financial trouble, you can take out a loan—but the high interest rates could drive you into bankruptcy. You can also undertake quests in hopes of special rewards, though your choices might lead you down a darker path.

Players enjoy crossbreeding, influencing traits, and creating unique creatures, with many comparing it favorably to similar systems in other games.
- Strategic and enjoyable combat (weight 0.66): The game features enjoyable and challenging turn-based combat that requires strategic planning. Even losing battles can be beneficial, and the fights themselves are fun and engaging.
- Addictive gladiatorial management loop (weight 0.6): The core gameplay loop, centered around gladiatorial management, is highly addictive and enjoyable. Players find themselves wanting to play 'just one more turn'.
- Extensive and varied content (weight 0.57): The game offers a substantial amount of content, providing players with many options and a lot to do. This contributes to the game's replayability and long-term enjoyment.
- Active and responsive developer (weight 0.07): The developer is actively involved, responsive, and consistently updates the game based on player feedback. This ongoing support enhances the overall player experience.
- Carnivores and mammals advantageous (weight 0.03): Carnivores are easy to tame and train, while mammalian creatures are advantageous due to their high trainability.
- Multiple difficulty levels available (weight 0.02): The game offers multiple difficulty levels, including a custom mode, catering to a wide range of player skill levels and preferences.
- Encourages exploration/discovery (weight 0.02): The game encourages exploration and discovery by allowing players to skip the tutorial and figure things out independently.
- Many different tournament types (weight 0.02): The game features many different kinds of tournaments, such as "reptiles vs insectoids" or "01 sorcerer and 02 monsters" or "archers only".

Common complaints:
- Repetitive, grindy gameplay loop (weight 0.35): The game becomes repetitive due to slow-paced combat, a lack of late-game content, and a feeling of grinding. This is exacerbated by balancing issues, inconsistencies in monster performance, and limited strategic options in battles.
- Inadequate tutorial and UI/UX (weight 0.34): The game lacks a proper tutorial and tooltips, making it difficult for new players to understand core mechanics, resource management, and combat, leading to frustration and restarts. The UI also lacks quality of life improvements, such as sorting and filtering, making monster management cumbersome.
- Inconsistent stats and breeding (weight 0.06): Stats are not tied to level, leading to unexpected combat outcomes. Inheritance mechanics feel too random, making it difficult to obtain desired traits through breeding.
- Uninspired map design (weight 0.03): Map design feels sluggish and doesn't offer opportunities for strategic advantage. Arena maps lack variety and features like cover.
- Poor quest map design (weight 0.03): The 'rogue druids' quest map is poorly designed, featuring a long corridor with ranged units and tanky melee creatures, making it frustratingly difficult.
- Limited breeding options (weight 0.03): Hybrids are infertile, limiting breeding options. There is a hard limit to the interesting monsters you can crossbreed.
- Generic music and setting (weight 0.03): The music is generic and uninspired. The setting is generic, failing to create a distinct world.
- Bestiary needs polish (weight 0.03): The bestiary needs polish, as scrolling is limited, preventing full captions from being read. The image of the reaper dragon blocks some of the text in the bestiary.
- Punishing death consequences (weight 0.03): Death results in game over, which can be frustrating. Failure can have hardcore and brutal consequences, including permanent loss of creatures due to simple mistakes.
- Unbalanced hit chances (weight 0.02): There was no noticeable difference in hitting with 7% or 97% chance, with more misses occurring than expected, making the game feel unbalanced.
- Unpredictable AoE attacks (weight 0.02): Area-of-effect attacks from enemies can be devastating, and the lack of predictability feels like random chance.
- Annoying camera behavior (weight 0.02): The camera constantly follows opponents, moving out of view, without an option to turn it off.
- Tedious hatching system (weight 0.02): Hatching system becomes tedious when receiving 10+ eggs from the wild.
- Uncommon trait distribution (weight 0.02): The drunkard trait appears too frequently on blacksmiths and alchemists, making hiring less enjoyable.
- Annoying sound effects (weight 0.01): The sound effects can be annoying.

Gameplay feedback:
- Human gladiators offer alternative playstyle (weight 0.11): Players can invest in and manage human gladiators with different classes (warrior, archer, mage) alongside monsters. Equipping gladiators with gear obtained through crafting, winnings, or festivals is part of the gameplay loop, adding another layer of strategic depth.
- Environmental conditions affect monster health (weight 0.02): Maintaining the health of the monster stock requires careful monitoring of temperature and humidity, which fluctuate with the changing seasons.
- Esoteric mechanics are central (weight 0.02): Esoteric mechanics are a core part of the gameplay experience.
- Economy overshadows other elements (weight 0.02): The economic aspect is too dominant over other gameplay elements.

Performance notes:
- Game is stable and polished (weight 0.06): Multiple reviews highlight the game's stability, noting the absence of significant bugs or crashes. This indicates a polished experience, contributing positively to player satisfaction.
- Graphics are unexceptional (weight 0.02): The graphics are functional but not particularly impressive. This suggests that while the visuals don't detract from the experience, they also don't stand out as a strong positive.

They hope that future updates will address these issues and create a more polished and well-communicated experience.
- Unique monster breeding/battle blend (weight 0.08): The game is praised for its unique blend of monster breeding and tactical battles, often compared to a more mature version of Monster Rancher combined with Gladius. Reviewers specifically recommend it to players who enjoy breeding monsters and creating the perfect team, as well as those who appreciate slow, strategic gameplay.

Other player notes:
- Early access, active development (weight 0.12): The game is in early access, developed by a small team, with a roadmap for future content. The developers are committed to improving the game based on player feedback. Expect systems to be rough around the edges.
- Breeding boost pillar advantage (weight 0.02): The breeding boost pillar provides extra offspring, increasing the chances of getting max stats for new monsters. This mechanic is important for players looking to optimize their monster teams.
- Missing Chinese localization (weight 0.02): The game currently lacks Chinese language support, despite the store page having a Chinese description. This suggests potential future localization efforts.
- Low production value, transparent (weight 0.02): The developer acknowledges the game's low production value and use of generic assets. This transparency sets expectations for players regarding the game's visual presentation.
- Niche, surprisingly deep gameplay (weight 0.02): The game is described as a niche monster ranching/battling title with surprising depth. This suggests that while the game may not appeal to everyone, it offers a complex and engaging experience for those interested in the genre.
- Retro aesthetic (weight 0.02): The game features a retro aesthetic reminiscent of the early 2000s. This visual style may appeal to players who enjoy older games or a nostalgic look.
